As a Cloud Security Specialist, you’ll be part of the Second Line of Alliander’s SOC. You have experience with AWS security and are eager to gain even more expertise in this area. Security runs through your veins, and we offer the place where you can put that to good use. This position is available in Haarlem or Arnhem for 32, 36, or 40 hours per week. You’ll help secure the energy grid at Alliander.

Please note that for this position, we are looking for someone who is proficient in Dutch (B2 level) and is already living in the Netherlands.

The energy transition is impossible without you as an AWS Security Specialist at the SOC (Arnhem OR Haarlem)

As part of the Blue Team at Alliander’s Cyber Resilience Center (CRC), you’ll ensure that security monitoring in Alliander’s Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment is and remains fully up to standard. In addition, you’ll provide both solicited and unsolicited advice on necessary measures. You’ll also help the rest of the CRC team respond even more quickly to security incidents. We’re building the energy grid of the future for everyone, together with everyone. And as an AWS Security Specialist, you’ll be part of this effort. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Optimizing security monitoring in relation to AWS;

  • developing and maintaining security monitoring use cases based on current threats and incidents;

  • advising the AWS team and the more than 200 development teams on the steps they should take to work even more securely;

  • transferring knowledge to frontline staff so they can handle most reports on their own, allowing you to focus solely on the more challenging cases;

  • Maintain contact with the AWS team's Product Owner, which will enable you to act quickly and independently.

You’ll work on a hybrid basis, which means you’ll be at the Haarlem or Arnhem office two days a week. This depends on where you live. On the other days, you can work from home, at the office, or anywhere else in the Netherlands.

You'll help make Alliander's energy grid more complete

Did you know that at Alliander we are made up of several companies? With a large club of professionals, we develop and manage the energy network for millions of residents and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. We do this together and with attention to our customer. And thanks to our talents, we have full confidence in the energy future of the Netherlands. Together with you, we make the energy transition possible.

And you’ll be doing that as part of the Cyber Resilience Center team, which is part of the CISO Office business unit under the Alliander umbrella. The CISO Office is the unit responsible for Alliander’s security. As an autonomous body, we work with all of Alliander’s units and companies.

Within the CISO Office, you’ll work alongside 44 passionate experts: security architects, security specialists, and security managers. As a team, you’ll be responsible for Alliander’s entire information security process. The focus is on developing security building blocks, policies, and frameworks that form the foundation of a secure digital environment. The culture within the team is strongly focused on collaboration, connection, and in-depth professional expertise. We value everyone’s expertise and encourage the sharing of knowledge so that, together, we can arrive at the best and most well-thought-out security solutions.

The drive to discover what’s possible is only possible if you have enough energy. And the right work environment gives you that. The Cyber Resilience Center consists of smart and dedicated colleagues and has a First Line (first line of defense, for handling 95% of reports), a Second Line (where the specialists are based), a Third Line (for the senior specialists), and various virtual teams that collaborate on specific specializations such as Vulnerability Management, Threat Management, and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure.

You make it even more energetic

You do that by drawing on your own strengths and talents. And you do that here with us. Will you contribute to this with your critical perspective? And will you also complement this with:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS security solutions such as Amazon GuardDuty and CloudTrail.

  • Knowledge of AWS in an enterprise environment

  • Experience with security incident analysis and response in cloud environments.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the AWS structure and associated architecture.

* In the cover letter you submit, please tell us about your hands-on experience with AWS Security Operations and your experience with incident response based on alerts in CloudTrail and GuardDuty.
