In a future powered by renewable energy sources, reliable data is crucial for efficient and future-proof business operations. The growth of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, smart meters, and charging stations is leading to an explosion of data. The Data Office was established to make this data accessible, usable, and valuable. The Data Office strengthens the organization by improving data governance and data management, and by transforming unstructured data into actionable insights. In this way, we lay the foundation for innovation, better decision-making, and more efficient operations. After all, the energy transition is twofold: from fossil fuels to sustainability, and from a data-shy to a data-driven way of working.Within the Data Office, the Programs and Domains cluster plays a key role. This team oversees the decentralized implementation of the central data policy, based on the international DAMA DMBOK v2 framework. This framework offers a structured approach to professional data management and encompasses eleven knowledge areas, including Data Governance, Data Quality, and Metadata Management. It helps policymakers align data management goals with strategic organizational goals, and makes policy data-driven, transparent, and future-proof. The Programs and Domains cluster translates policy into practice, facilitates change, and provides clear guidelines. Specifically, they provide support for domain-specific applications, data migrations, action plans, data quality issues, and explanations of governance roles, while promoting data-driven practices in operations. With this approach, we make data strategically valuable and accelerate the energy transition. Together, we’re making the grid better.
