Role description and task arrangements

Start: ASAP
Duration: until the end of 2027
Rate: max €125,= including MSP fee, depending on education and work experience
Self-employed: Yes
Location:
Hybrid, but physically present at the Alliander office in Arnhem at least twice a week

Position: Functional Consultant Fit4Future Asset

Alliander:
The Netherlands runs on energy. And by 2050, it will run entirely on renewable energy. It is up to the network companies and all our partners to help make this energy transition possible.
Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digitalization products. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and to prevent bottlenecks in the energy grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and upgrading our core IT systems over the next five years.

Fit4Future:
Alliander has launched a program called Fit4Future to prepare the IT foundation for the future. Fit4Future consists of four separate, complementary programs;

  • ERP
  • Asset
  • IAM
  • Data

Asset Program
To support the energy transition, we are implementing a new ecosystem of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Asset Performance Management (APM), and Field Service systems. The major challenge lies in the seamless integration of these new platforms with our existing core systems.

Job Description:
As a Functional Consultant at Alliander, you will be the driving force behind the integration of various IT systems with our new APM, EAM, and FSM environments, taking responsibility for implementation and coordination. You will act as the central point of contact for all system integration issues on behalf of the integration team and ensure progress and continuity through tight planning and flawless execution of the work.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Forecasting Youwill develop the integration roadmap, coordinate it with all stakeholders, and monitor progress. You will anticipate bottlenecks in capacity or other dependencies and take proactive measures to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Leading Refinement: Youorganize and facilitate refinement sessions. You ensure that business input is translated into high-quality user stories that are technically feasible, while involving the right stakeholders at the right time.
  • Analyzing Functional Gaps:You delve into requirements to identify gaps between the current and desired states. You ensure that these "gaps" are translated into concrete actions in the backlog.
  • Bridge between Business and IT:You speak the language of both worlds. You can explain the functional logic of integrations (such as data flows and process steps) to the business side and clearly communicate priorities to the development team.
  • Results-oriented:You monitor the quality of the delivered features and ensure that system integrations actually deliver the intended business value.

Job Requirements:
You have strong communication skills in both Dutch and English. You are a team player but are also capable of taking independent responsibility for your work. Furthermore, you can work well under pressure and have a proactive attitude toward independently resolving issues, while maintaining a focus on quality and continuity.

Proven experience:

  • Experience: At least5 years of professional experience at the intersection of business and IT in complex environments, preferably in an asset-intensive environment.
  • Organizational Excellence: Provenexperience in planning and coordinating IT projects and managing capacity within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Functional Requirements:You have experience with software development projects and understand the fundamentals of integrations (such as APIs and data flows), enabling you to assess the impact of functional decisions on the technical implementation.
  • Communication & Facilitation:You’re a strong organizer who leads sessions, accelerates decision-making, and acts as a central hub connecting architects, developers, and product owners.
  • Language skills: Good command of Dutch.
  • Analytical Insight:You have a keen eye for detail and quickly spot where processes or systems aren’t aligned

Competencies

  • Decisiveness:You are able to take charge and make decisions under high pressure.
  • Systemic thinking: You quickly recognize the interdependencies between different systems and teams.
  • Strong planning skills: You are an expert at creating detailed schedules and monitoring progress.
  • Communication skills:You are a natural connector who communicates clearly with both technical staff and program and project management.
  • Analytical skills: You can assess risks and develop scenarios in response to changes in the schedule.
