Ensuring that the lights stay on in thousands of households, even in tomorrow's sustainable world. Operating at the interface between electrical engineering and automation engineering. That is what you do at Qirion, from your base in Haarlem, Leeuwarden or Duiven, as OT Specialist (Operational Technology). You will get to know the monitoring, control and security of the high-voltage grid and high-voltage substations in detail. You will take the lead in further digitizing the power grid. This is a full-time position. You will make the grid future-proof at Alliander.

The energy transition is impossible without you as OT Specialist
You are the technician who intervenes in the event of malfunctions and takes responsibility for work on secondary components at our high-voltage substations. You will prepare and execute projects yourself, of course with proper guidance from an experienced specialist. With the continuous addition of increasingly complex installations, station automation is becoming increasingly important. As a specialist, you configure these systems using various software programs. You are an indispensable link in the further development of the smart grid.

In this challenging development program, you will receive training in which you will spend the first three months learning all about high-voltage technology. You will undergo thorough safety training and learn more about the substations where you will eventually work. The following eight months are a mix of theoretical deepening and practical assignments. Together with experienced colleagues, you will be on the road every day. This way, you gain all the knowledge and skills you need to work on the secondary systems at the substations. Eventually you will know how the substations and all secondary components are put together. This allows you to manage colleagues and coordinate work. NOTE: The next starting time is in February '26.

We are creating the energy network of the future for everyone, with everyone. And as an OT Specialist, you work on this. You are busy with the:

  • Maintain and configure secondary installations (OT), both in realization and maintenance. Relays, remote terminal units, it all comes along as you work on high-voltage substations, cables and lines. The voltage on the connections you work on ranges from 10 kV to 150 kV.
  • Learning about and working on new systems in the test lab.
  • Running second-line breakdown watch shifts.
  • Preparing work, making schedules and directing actual execution.
