PMO ASSET Program
Alliander context
The Netherlands runs on energy. And by 2050, it will run entirely on renewable energy. It is up to the network companies and all our partners to help make this energy transition possible. And we are working hard on that. For example, by managing and adapting our energy grids. By providing the data and services that our customers, governments, and partners need. We do this so that everyone who needs energy—or can supply it—can do so or receive it. And at the same time, we ensure that the energy system as a whole remains reliable, affordable, and accessible to everyone. Now and in the more sustainable Netherlands of tomorrow. Serving our customers and achieving our goals requires a future-proof and robust information infrastructure.
Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digital solutions. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and preventing bottlenecks in the energy grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and modernizing core IT systems over the next five years.
Fit4Future
From a business perspective, the initiatives needed in the coming years to accelerate the execution of this mission have been identified. At the same time, during the initiation and planning phase of Fit4Future, we defined where we want to be in five years and beyond, and what capabilities we want to have, translating this into a future-proof architecture with a focus on processes and systems. In the current design phase, blueprints are being developed and partners selected for implementation.
However, when replacing the core IT systems within the Fit4Future scope, we face a number of specific challenges and risks. For example, we must spend several years working on IT that does not immediately deliver visible functionality, while we expect demand for new digitalization (outside the Fit4Future scope) to increase significantly. This puts pressure on the overhaul of the digital foundation, with the risk that necessary Fit4Future work will not be given the proper priority. In addition, we no longer frequently implement large, complex changes to the existing ecosystem, with the risk that we will miss lifecycle and contractual deadlines.
To address these challenges and mitigate risks, we have decided to organize some of our activitiesalongside—rather than within—the digital ecosystem. In doing so, a centrally managed Fit4Future portfolio of programs and IT products will be delivered to the ARTs within the existing digital ecosystems. The Fit4Future portfolio includes five projects: ERP (SAP S/4 HANA), ASSET (EAM/APM/FSM), ISU (large-scale consumption billing), DATA (new platform and methodology), and Identity & Access Management (IAM). Each of these programs has its own steering group with business representation at the executive level and reports within the Fit4Future portfolio.
We are looking for an experienced PMO professional to join the ASSET program team. In this role, you will report directly to the program manager and indirectly to the portfolio office manager. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, ensuring consistency, documenting, and reporting on projects and the program itself. Due to the complexity of both areas, it is important that you have (and maintain) a clear understanding of and overview over the program’s schedules and deliverables. In addition, you can offer critical input and perspective, and you are not afraid to challenge your colleagues.
