Job Description: Program Manager, Fit4Future Asset
Role:
Program Manager, Fit4Future Asset
Alliander context
The Netherlands runs on energy. And by 2050, entirely on sustainable energy. It is up to the network companies and all our partners to help make this Energy Transition possible. And we are working hard on that. For example, by managing and adapting our energy grids. By providing data and services that our customers, governments, and partners need. We do this so that everyone who needs energy, or can supply it, can do so or receive it. And at the same time, we ensure that the energy system as a whole remains reliable, affordable, and accessible to everyone. Now and in the more sustainable Netherlands of tomorrow. Serving our customers and achieving our goals requires a future-proof and robust information infrastructure.

Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the Energy Transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digitalization products. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and to prevent bottlenecks in the energy grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and modernizing core IT systems over the next five years.

Fit4Future
Alliander has launched a program called Fit4Future to prepare the IT foundation for the future. Fit4Future consists of four separate (but complementary) programs: 1) ERP, 2) Data, 3) IAM, 4) Asset, and 5) ISU.

Asset Program
The Fit4Future Asset program focuses on future-proofing asset management processes within Alliander. This is achieved through the standardization of processes and the implementation of a new IT landscape, including EAM (IBM Maximo), APM, FSM (IFS), and CMDB-OT, along with integrations with existing core systems.

The program is currently in an intensive implementation phase and is characterized by a high degree of technical and organizational complexity, strong interdependencies between business, IT, operations, and suppliers, and the critical requirement that maintenance and incident response processes continue uninterrupted.

The role
The Fit4Future Asset Program Manager is fully responsible for one of the most business-critical transformation programs within Alliander.

The role requires a highly experienced program manager who can independently set the direction, drive decision-making where necessary, and operate effectively in a complex administrative environment. The program manager serves as the primary point of contact for the steering committee and executive management and represents Alliander in dealings with strategic suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for results, value, scheduling, budget, quality, and risks
  • Establishing and ensuring program management, governance, and decision-making
  • Focusing on the interconnections between multiple epics, workflows, chains, and dependencies
  • Prioritizing initiatives and scope based on strategic value and operational impact
  • Leading project and rollout managers, the PMO, and functional teams
  • Strategic management of suppliers and contract partners
  • Reporting and escalating to the steering committee and the Fit4Future portfolio
  • Ensuring the controlled transfer of program results to management and the line organization

Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic or higher vocational education (HBO+) level of work and thinking;
  • Over 10 years of experience as a program manager at the enterprise level, managing complex, business-critical programs;
  • Proven experience with complex IT and change management programs that have a significant operational impact;
  • Knowledge of the ASSET environment is a must;
  • Experience working at the steering committee and executive levels;
  • Experience with strategic supplier management in multi-vendor environments;
  • Experience with programs where the continuity and reliability of primary processes are critical;
  • Experience in infrastructure, energy, network management, or the public sector is a strong plus.

Competencies

  • Strong in strategy and concept development
  • Administratively astute and politically savvy
  • Decisive and steadfast
  • Brings clarity, structure, and predictability to complex programs
  • Inclusive leadership with clear direction and ownership
  • Skilled at setting priorities and making choices clear

Important for agencies
This is not a project or delivery manager role. We are looking for a highly experienced program manager with a proven ability to lead organization-wide, business-critical transformations in a complex administrative context.
