The energy transition is impossible without you as a Public Sector Account Manager

You are responsible for administrative and official relations regarding energy (transition) issues, spatial planning, and infrastructure. You serve as the primary point of contact for a number of local officials and their policy advisors in Flevoland, specifically for the municipalities of Almere, Zeewolde, Dronten, Lelystad, Urk, and Noordoostpolder. Within Alliander, you will also serve as the internal point of contact for developments in the municipalities under your responsibility.

You’ll be tasked with addressing issues such as: Where can solar panels still be connected to the power grid? Which neighborhoods are suitable for a district heating network and which are not? How can we work with stakeholders to accelerate the construction of energy infrastructure? How can I influence municipalities’ energy visions or environmental plans so that they align with our investment plans? At the same time, you’ll need to explain congestion and its impact.

You thrive on connecting with stakeholders, identifying common interests, and pinpointing necessary decisions; devising creative solutions during the decision-making process; and working together to make our energy system smarter and future-proof. "We are building the energy grid of the future for everyone, together with everyone." And as a Public Sector Relationship Manager, you’ll be part of this effort. Among other things, you’ll be working on:

  • Build and maintain a network of relevant stakeholders at the civil service and administrative levels within your region (Flevoland).
  • Together with your colleagues, you will collect and analyze information on regional developments, such as economic trends, housing construction, mobility, industry, and renewable energy generation.
  • Participating in working groups and steering committees, such as the Regional Energy Strategies (RES), heating programs, the National Charging Infrastructure Agenda (NAL), and Integrated Planning.
  • Organizing and leading informational sessions, webinars, and workshops on the energy transition.
  • Proactively informing municipal councils, regional organizations, and city councils about the impact of land-use planning, area development, and the energy transition on grid capacity.
  • Influencing stakeholders to jointly develop and finalize plans for the future, while taking social and political considerations into account.
  • Keeping colleagues at Alliander informed about the local situation, challenges, and practical needs.

You make a difference at Alliander

Did you know that at Alliander we are made up of several companies? Together with Liander, Qirion, Qterra, Dep and Entrnce, we develop and manage the energy network for millions of residents in the Netherlands. And with the current energy transition, that's hard work. We do this with the help of over 8,000 professionals. Thanks to these talents, we have full confidence in the energy future of the Netherlands. Together with you, we will make it possible.

And you are going to do that at our business unit Liander. Here you are jointly responsible for the management and maintenance of energy networks such as electricity and gas. You will manage this together with about 3,000 colleagues. We supply energy to households, businesses and other customers.

You can only tackle challenges if you have enough energy. And the right work environment provides that. As a Public Sector Relationship Manager, you play a crucial role within the Stakeholder Management department, which is part of the Customer and Design division. Here, you’ll work alongside passionate colleagues on the energy transition. Within this business unit, you’ll join the Flevoland team and spend most of your week working with our stakeholders in this region. At Alliander, we work in a hybrid model. We also value connecting with one another, which is why we collaborate in Amsterdam, Arnhem, or Leeuwarden as well.

You're making the region more vibrant

Your experience shows that you can maintain a clear overview in a strategically complex environment. You know how to translate your understanding of political and administrative dynamics into strategies and actions, and successfully implement them with others. And that you can lead the energy transition from within Liander. You do this by drawing on your own strengths and talents, as well as your team spirit and knowledge of our organization: Alliander. Will you use your expertise and flexibility to contribute to the energy transition in a changing environment? Great! Especially if you can also offer:

  • Work and cognitive level.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a similar position within a (complex) public organization
  • Experience with local issues involving various stakeholders, preferably in the areas of infrastructure and/or energy (transition) and public administration
  • A demonstrable customer-focused attitude and approach
  • To be a strong, reliable partner for our stakeholders
  • The ability to hold your own and find your way in a changing environment where much is new and not everything follows standard procedures. The ability to navigate a dynamic and changing environment, where you find new approaches rather than relying on existing processes. You are flexible and willing to work evenings for Alliander from time to time
