Role: SAP BTP Developer (CAP + Fiori)
Alliander context
The Netherlands is working toward a future in which energy will be fully sustainable by 2050. Alliander, together with its partners, plays a key role in this by enabling the energy transition.
Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digital solutions. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and to prevent bottlenecks in the power grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and modernizing our core IT systems over the next five years.

Fit4Future: Program Flow
Alliander has launched an initiative called Fit4Future to prepare the IT foundation for the future. Fit4Future consists of several separate, complementary programs and projects.
One of these programs is Flow, within which projects are being carried out to replace and phase out SAP IS-U.

Invoice-to-Cash (I2C) Project
Alliander uses SAP IS-U for processes such as customer management, connection management, consumption management, billing, and market and service processes. Because these systems are nearing the end of their lifecycle, these processes must be redesigned based on the future target architecture, including SAP S/4HANA and other target applications.

An essential component of SAP IS-U is Billing & Collection (SAP FI-CA). This supports the financial processes required to bill customers accurately and on time and to collect payments efficiently and in a controlled manner.

The current landscape, which includes classic ABAP, interfaces, and workflows within SAP IS-U, is not compatible with the future architecture. That is why Alliander works according to the Clean Core principles, ensuring that the landscape remains more maintainable, future-proof, and easier to upgrade.
The I2C project follows the Fit-to-Standard principle: processes and solutions are designed as much as possible based on standard SAP functionality. This limits custom development and makes optimal use of new technologies.
Developments are implemented via on-stack extensions, such as Developer Extensibility and Key User Extensibility, or via the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). SAP BTP plays a central role in development, integration, process automation, and user interaction:
  • Application Development: development of applications and side-by-side extensions.
  • Integration: Connections to SAP and non-SAP systems via the SAP Integration Suite.
  • Process Automation: Orchestration and automation of business processes with SAP Build Process Automation.
  • User Experience: Centralized delivery of applications, processes, and information via SAP Build Work Zone.
This creates a modern, flexible, and future-proof application landscape that aligns with Alliander’s strategic objectives.

Job Description
As an SAP BTP Developer within the I2C project, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing solutions on the SAP Business Technology Platform, with a focus on CAP development and Fiori/front-end solutions. You will work according to the Clean Core principle and contribute to the transition of the current SAP IS-U landscape to a future-proof cloud environment. You will translate business processes and user needs into effective, maintainable, and user-friendly applications, working closely with the I2C development teams, functional consultants, architects, testers, and Alliander’s business units.

Responsibilities
  • Working according to the SAP and Alliander Clean Core standard, based on the “RISE with SAP” strategy.
  • Developing applications on the SAP BTP platform using CAP, TypeScript/Node.js, CDS data models, services, and Fiori/front-end components.
  • Implementing solutions using side-by-side extensions and key-user extensibility.
  • Implement the necessary back-end developments to support integration, such as OData V4 (REST), SOAP services, and events (AEM within event enablement).
  • Implement front-end development and user interfaces using SAP Fiori, SAP Build Work Zone, and relevant BTP services.
  • Contribute ideas from a UX perspective and help create consistent, accessible, and user-centered screens and process interactions.
  • Design and implementation of end-to-end CAP applications, including integration between services, data models, authorizations, and Fiori user interfaces.
  • Collaborate with other consultants and developers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Providing support in resolving technical issues and offering follow-up care.
  • Be able to work within multiple multidisciplinary Scrum teams.
Job Requirements
You have strong communication skills in both Dutch and English. You’re a team player but are also capable of taking independent responsibility for your work. You have experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies and know how to deliver value in an iterative work environment. In addition, you have a proactive attitude and are able to independently resolve issues while maintaining a focus on quality and continuity.

  • BTP Cloud Development: CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) using TypeScript / Node.js
  • Working with entities, data models (CDS), services, and event handling.
  • SAP Fiori setup and development, including configuration and integration of applications via SAP Build Work Zone.
  • Development of end-to-end CAP applications with a clear integration between back-end services, data models, and Fiori/front-end components.
