Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digital solutions. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and for preventing bottlenecks in the power grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still reliant on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and upgrading our core IT systems over the next five years.
Fit4Future: Program Flow
Alliander has launched an initiative called Fit4Future to prepare its IT infrastructure for the future. Fit4Future consists of several separate, complementary programs and projects.
One of these programs is Flow, under which projects are being carried out to replace and phase out SAP IS-U.
Invoice-to-Cash (I2C) Project
Alliander uses SAP IS-U for processes such as customer management, connection management, consumption management, billing, and market and service processes. Because these systems are nearing the end of their lifecycle, these processes must be redesigned based on the future target architecture, including SAP S/4HANA and other target applications.
An essential component of SAP IS-U is Billing & Collections (SAP FI-CA). This supports the financial processes required to bill customers accurately and on time and to collect payments efficiently and in a controlled manner.
The current landscape, which consists of classic ABAP, interfaces, and workflows within SAP IS-U, is not aligned with the future architecture. That is why Alliander is working according to the Clean Core principles, so that the landscape remains more maintainable, future-proof, and easier to upgrade.
The I2C Project follows the “Fit-to-Standard” principle: processes and solutions are designed as much as possible using standard SAP functionality. This minimizes the need for customization and ensures optimal use of new technologies.
Developments are implemented through on-stack extensions, such as Developer Extensibility and Key User Extensibility, or through the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). SAP BTP plays a central role in development, integration, process automation, and user interaction:
Job Profile
As an SAP Build Process Automation Consultant on the I2C project, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing process automation within SAP BTP using SAP Build Process Automation. You will translate business requirements and process designs into robust, manageable, and maintainable workflows, business rules, approvals, forms, notifications, and automation scenarios. You’ll work according to the Clean Core principles and contribute to the transition from the current SAP IS-U landscape to a future-proof cloud environment. You’ll work closely with the I2C teams and Alliander’s business units to understand business processes and translate them into efficient, reliable, and easily integrable automation solutions.
