Job Description: SAP Data Migration Consultant/Developer | Fit4Future Flow
Role: SAP Data Migration Consultant/Developer
Alliander Context
The Netherlands is working toward a future in which energy will be fully sustainable by 2050. Alliander, together with its partners, plays a key role in this by enabling the energy transition.
Alliander committed to digitalization early on to facilitate the energy transition, with teams that develop, implement, and manage digital solutions. These include apps for field technicians and municipalities, as well as advanced algorithms for investment optimization and to prevent bottlenecks in the power grid. However, for part of our information provision, we are still dependent on outdated systems with complex interfaces and data that is difficult to access. That is why we will be replacing and modernizing core IT systems over the next five years.

Fit4Future: Program Flow
Alliander has launched an initiative called Fit4Future to prepare the IT foundation for the future. Fit4Future consists of several separate, complementary programs and projects.
One of these programs is Flow, within which projects are being carried out to replace and phase out SAP IS-U.

Invoice-to-Cash (I2C) Project
Alliander uses SAP IS-U for processes such as customer management, connection management, consumption management, billing, and market and service processes. Because these systems are nearing the end of their lifecycle, these processes must be redesigned based on the future target architecture, including SAP S/4HANA and other target applications.
An essential component of SAP IS-U is Billing & Collections (SAP FI-CA). This supports the financial processes required to bill customers accurately and on time and to collect payments efficiently and in a controlled manner.
The current landscape, which includes classic ABAP, interfaces, and workflows within SAP IS-U, is not compatible with the future architecture. That is why Alliander works according to the Clean Core principles, ensuring that the landscape remains more maintainable, future-proof, and easier to upgrade.
The I2C project follows the “Fit-to-Standard” principle: processes and solutions are designed as much as possible based on standard SAP functionality. This limits custom development and makes optimal use of new technologies.

Job Profile As an SAP Data Migration Consultant/Developer within the I2C project, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and executing the data migration from ECC (Invoice to Cash) to S/4. The role encompasses both functional activities (mapping, data quality, reconciliation) and technical tasks (ABAP, ETL, Migration Cockpit, data loads) and is crucial for a successful S/4 transition.
You will work closely with the Transition Lead, SAP ABAP developers, Solution Architects, Application Consultants, and Product Owners to create a future-proof application landscape.
You have actively and demonstrably contributed to multiple SAP data migration projects for other clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Inventory of all source data in SAP ECC and SAP IS-U
  • Analyzing data volumes, data quality, and dependencies
  • Identifying obsolete, duplicate, or corrupted data
  • Creating an inventory of data objects
  • Mapping the existing data structure to the new S/4HANA data model
  • Preparing mapping documentation
  • Defining Transformation Rules
  • Implementing Data Quality Checks
  • Identifying duplicate customers, missing addresses, invalid contract relationships, etc.
  • Defining data cleansing actions with business users
  • Developing and/or configuring technical solutions for extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Configuring Migration Objects
  • Building Extensions for Standard Objects
  • Developing Custom Migration Objects
  • Designing Upload Templates
  • Conduct test migrations (including establishing GO/NO GO criteria)
  • Reconciliation of migrated data, including the preparation of reports and audit trails
  • Prepare for the cutover in consultation with the transition lead
  • Implementation and monitoring of data migration in production environment(s)
  • Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and support to the management organization
  • Actively participate in multiple multidisciplinary Scrum teams

Job Requirements
You have strong communication skills in both Dutch and English. You are a team player but are also able to take independent responsibility for your work. In addition, you can work well under time pressure and have a proactive approach to independently resolving issues, while maintaining a focus on quality and continuity.

Verifiable experience (3 to 5 years) with:

  • SAP Migration Cockpit
  • ETL methodologies
  • SAP Master Data Management / Governance
  • ABAP
  • SQL
  • CDS Views
  • Data Services (BODS)
