Senior Business Analyst, Digital Transformation (Asset Investment Planning)

As an experienced business analyst, you’ll help the business clarify issues, needs, and pain points and translate them into practical digital solutions. You’ll move seamlessly between users, stakeholders, developers, and architects, ensuring that ideas don’t just remain on paper but become feasible and valuable in practice.

You’re right at the intersection of business and IT: you identify needs, map out processes and dependencies, and work with experts to translate these into concrete solutions. It’s a big help if you’re naturally curious about how systems work and get a kick out of exploring, understanding, and improving them on your own.

Asset Investment Planning (AIP)

AIP is a critical process within Alliander that we use to substantiate and justify investment decisions regarding the electricity grid. The AIP system provides visibility into the entire chain, from bottleneck to implementation, enabling us to:

  • To be able to inform our customers in a timely manner about the connection duration,

  • Being accountable to the authorities for decisions made,

  • Contribute as much as possible to an agile and future-proof energy transition.

Key responsibilities

  • You gather the wishes, challenges, and needs of business stakeholders and help them clarify what is truly needed.

  • You translate business needs into clear requirements, process improvements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that are actionable for developers and other specialists.

  • You will work closely with stakeholders, developers, architects, and key users to ensure that solutions are feasible, understandable, and widely supported.

  • You will oversee changes from concept to implementation and contribute to quality assurance, documentation, and knowledge transfer within the team and the organization.

Desired Profile

  • Experienced in analyzing business challenges and translating them into concrete, actionable digital solutions.

  • Strong in stakeholder management: you listen carefully, ask probing questions, and help different parties work together to reach clear decisions.

  • You feel comfortable working at the intersection of business and IT and enjoy collaborating with developers, architects, and users.

  • You have strong analytical skills, quickly identify connections and interdependencies, and know how to distinguish between main issues and secondary ones.

  • You're curious about systems and processes, and you enjoy diving into an application or process yourself to truly understand how it works.

  • You take ownership, bring structure, and help a team move from idea to implementation.

  • Experience in an agile environment (Scrum/SAFe) is important.

  • You can navigate a complex stakeholder environment in which interests vary and solutions are developed in stages.

When the role isn't quite the right fit

  • If you prefer to focus primarily on technical design or development and don't get as much energy from coordinating with business stakeholders.

  • If you mainly want to analyze without also taking responsibility for translating that analysis into implementation and execution.

  • If you need a long, step-by-step onboarding period and are less comfortable in a dynamic environment.

  • If you’re not very curious about systems and applications—because to do this job well, it helps to explore the digital environment on your own.

Education & Experience

  • HBO/WO level of work and thinking

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a role as a business analyst, product owner, implementation consultant, or similar within a complex digital environment

  • Proven experience in identifying, analyzing, and translating business needs into actionable solutions

  • Experience working within a complex organization or supply chain context is a plus; experience working for a network operator is a bonus

Assignment

  • Start: as soon as possible

  • Duration: 8–12 months

  • Hours: 32–38 hours per week

  • Location: Arnhem (twice a week) / Hybrid
