At Alliander, we are working on robotics. We do this in many projects, and in the Roboticalab for grid operators, grid operators across the sector collaborate on the development, validation, and scaling up of robot and drone applications. These innovations contribute to safer, more efficient, and future-proof work processes.
As a principal researcher in robotics, you are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the direction, progress, and coherence of the existing robotics program. You will work within the framework and direction set by the current principal researcher and ensure that projects and activities are carried out consistently, on time, and to the appropriate quality standards. You will be the one to set the priorities for day-to-day activities, in consultation with the team.
You have sufficient technical knowledge of robotics to engage in discussions with developers, management, and users and to assess technical progress, without taking on the role of technical designer or initiator of new programs yourself. Your focus is on coordination, continuity, and translating program objectives into concrete actions and agreements, both within your own team and with external partners.
Stakeholder management is a key part of my role. You actively maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders, align expectations, identify dependencies, and ensure that decision-making takes place in a timely and well-prepared manner. In doing so, you serve as a link between program management, the line organization, knowledge institutions, and other relevant parties.
Responsibilities
Ensuring consistency and coherence within the existing robotics program and maintaining the link with Alliander’s Research Center and Innovation departments
Identifying risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks and taking action accordingly
Preparing, supporting, and documenting decision-making processes (including steering committees, meetings, and reviews).
Maintaining contact with internal and external stakeholders
Responsible for ensuring the administrative and organizational aspects of the program.
Supporting knowledge sharing, reuse, and standardization within the field of robotics.
Ensuring stability, clarity, and professionalism in the implementation of the program.
You will serve as the primary point of contact within the sector-wide collaboration with other network operators
Profile
HBO+/WO working and thinking level.
At least 5 years of experience in program and project management within a technical organization.
Proven experience in stakeholder management
An interest in robotics, automation, or technological innovation; sufficient technical knowledge to engage in discussions with experts and users and to assess progress.
Able to work independently, organize tasks, set priorities, and facilitate decision-making.
