Position: Department Head of Engineering

As Head of the Engineering Department within Station Works, you will provide coaching and hierarchical leadership to a team of internal and external engineers. You will be responsible for creating a safe, learning, and results-oriented working environment in which professionals can develop and enjoy working together on Station Works projects.

You promote cooperation, professionalism and ownership within the team. In doing so, you guard the balance between operational execution and the development of your people. You will fall under the program manager West/North and you will work closely with all program and project managers to ensure the team functions optimally and that everyone gets the right support and direction. 

You have an eye for the person behind the job and know how to connect, motivate and give direction from a position of trust.

What will you do?

• Lead a team of approximately 32 internal and external engineers.
• Coach, mentor and develop employees both professionally and personally.
• Create a positive, safe and open team culture.
• Promote collaboration across disciplines and teams.
• Help set priorities and provide clarity in goals and expectations.
• Support employees in their career development and performance.
• Identify bottlenecks in cooperation or workload and proactively manage them.
• Point of contact and representative of engineers.

What do you bring?

• A completed college or university degree, preferably in a technical field.
• Experience as a manager or team coach, preferably within a technical or project-based environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to connect people.
• A coaching and people-oriented leadership style, focused on trust, growth and ownership.
• Affinity for technology, but especially for developing people and teams.
• Ability to bring calm, direction and clarity to a dynamic environment.
• Work experience at Alliander is a big plus.
