We are looking to strengthen Team NetInzicht with a Test Automation Engineer for approximately 24 to 32 hours per week. Team NetInzicht works on multiple web applications and database solutions that are essential for field technicians, in part because geographically oriented viewers display information about the current status of the power grid. Incorrect information can lead to unsafe situations, which is why reliability, quality, and testability are crucial. 

The NetInzicht team works within the Agile Release Train (ART) Field Services and develops applications, portals, and services, among other things, in close collaboration with end users, the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Solution Architect, and other developers.

As part of Team NetInzicht, you’ll work on applications that directly contribute to secure, data-driven network management. We modernize existing solutions and build new applications within a modern cloud environment. This includes migrating existing .NET-based services to Python on the Kubernetes AWS platform, working on data streams, APIs, geoservices/viewers, and Python scripts, and modernizing critical operational processes. 

We are increasingly moving away from Oracle/PL/SQL and toward PostgreSQL, Python, and cloud-native development. In addition, we are building two new or revamped applications, for which we want to focus on automated regression testing, integration testing, effective monitoring, and robust CI/CD. The existing technical stack includes AWS, Kubernetes, API Gateway, Aurora, GitHub Actions, Postgres, Snowflake, Oracle, GeoJSON, ESRI, Python, TypeScript, SQL, and CDK.  

As a Test Automation Engineer, we’re looking for someone who can help the team make quality a structural part of the development process. Within the NetInzicht Team, we’re building new and updated applications. That’s why we want to establish robust automated regression and integration tests right from the start. 

You think not only in terms of test cases, but also in terms of test strategy, test automation, CI/CD integration, and quality across the entire chain. You work closely with backend developers, the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Solution Architect, and functional colleagues. The team works in an Agile environment and in close collaboration with end users. 

What will you do? 

• Set up and maintain automated regression tests for new and existing applications. 

• Set up and perform integration tests for APIs, data flows, database connections, and backend services. 

• Contribute ideas on testability when designing new functionality. 

• Integrate test automation into CI/CD, for example, in combination with GitHub Actions.  

• Work with developers to ensure better logging, monitoring, and measurable quality.  

• Identify quality risks in chains where geographic viewers, switch positions, databases, and services converge. 

• Translate test scenarios based on user processes, functional requirements, and technical specifications. 

• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing by providing insight into critical processes, risks, test results, and areas for improvement, and by ensuring a transferable testing approach.

We are looking for someone with: 

• Experience with test automation for backend services, APIs, and integrations. 

• Experience with regression testing and integration testing. 

• Knowledge of databases, preferably PostgreSQL. 

• Familiarity with Python, SQL, and CI/CD. 

• Experience in improving testing approaches, test quality, and quality awareness within development teams; 

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies. 

• Analytical skills to understand chains, data flows, and dependencies.  

• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly discuss test findings with technical and functional colleagues.  

• A pragmatic approach: you help the team move step by step toward a mature testing approach.
