Role description and task arrangements

UAT Test Manager – Contract

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager with 10+ years of expertise in the insurance and/or financial services sector to lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across multiple applications and solutions for an international IT program. The ideal candidate will bring strong test management expertise, experience with modern delivery methodologies (e.g., agile, iterative), and proven stakeholder management skills, as well as a track record of working in dynamic, sometimes unstructured environments. You will plan and oversee UAT across multiple applications and solutions, support and guide global business teams, and ensure that testing is executed and governed effectively so that solutions meet real business needs.
This is a hybrid role, giving you the flexibility to work from home and visit our offices to meet with colleagues at the moments that matter.

What the day will look like.

As part of the Business Testing Team, you will report to the Business Test Lead and work closely with UAT Test Analysts.

You will be responsible for:

Test Management and User Acceptance Testing Leadership
  • Define and manage UAT test strategies, plans, and schedules , aligned with the goals and timelines of the international program.
  • Design and oversee test conditions, test cases, and test scenarios across multiple applications and solutions, ensuring appropriate coverage of business requirements.
  • Lead UAT entry and exit criteria, gate reviews, and sign-off processes, ensuring clear acceptance standards and traceable decisions
  • Coordinate and oversee UAT execution by business SMEs and UAT teams, ensuring testing remains aligned to business objectives and program priorities in a fast-changing environment

Ways of Working and Methodologies
  • Work effectively within agile, iterative, and waterfall (or hybrid) delivery methodologies, adapting test management approaches to project requirements and governance.
  • Champion good practice in test management, execution, and defect handling across UAT teams, balancing structure with pragmatism in a fast-paced program environment.
  • Remain comfortable operating in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous setting, adjusting plans and priorities when strategies or scopes pivot.

People Leadership & Team Support
  • Lead, support, and inspire country-aligned business SME testing teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture so they can deliver UAT to their full potential.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and coaching to UAT Test Analyst team members and business SME teams, promoting good practice and continuous improvement in testing capability and confidence.
  • Provide in-person support to business SME UAT teams where required; this may involve occasional travel within EMEA.

Tools & Test Enablement
  • Ensure effective use of test management, defect management, and collaboration tools to plan, track, and report UAT activities.
  • Support the selection, implementation, and rollout of new tools, upgrades, or processes that enhance business testing capabilities and visibility.

Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Act as a key interface between the Business Test Lead, program leadership, and business SME teams, communicating test status, issues, and risks clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to prioritize UAT scope and efforts based on business risk and value.
  • Produce and deliver concise, accurate, and insight-driven reporting on UAT progress, quality, risks, and readiness for go-live.
  • Be willing to travel within Europe/EMEA on an infrequent basis to support key workshops, gate meetings, and stakeholder engagements.

DevOps and Automation Awareness
  • Leverage a good understanding of DevOps pipelines and automated testing to position UAT effectively within end-to-end delivery and release processes.
  • Collaborate with technical and QA teams to identify and leverage automation opportunities that support UAT (e.g., data preparation, regression packs), without losing focus on business-led validation.

Skills and experience that will lead to success.

  • 10+ years of experience in testing or related roles within the insurance or financial services industry, including significant exposure to UAT.
  • Proven experience in managing and executing testing across both agile and waterfall (or hybrid) delivery methodologies.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage global business testing teams working to demanding deadlines and timescales.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with inexperienced business SMEs, UAT test teams, and technical subject matter experts to support testing.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester - Foundation Level, or equivalent industry-recognized qualification.
  • Good understanding of automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright) and DevOps practices, and how these support UAT and release processes.
  • Self-motivated and driven, able to work with minimal supervision while providing clear direction to others.
  • Fluent in English, additional fluency in Dutch, French, German, or Spanish is an advantage.
  • Excellent written skills, including authoring and reviewing test plans, strategies, and other test documentation.
  • A strong team player and trusted partner, able to build and maintain confidence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work streams in a fast-paced, global, and sometimes unstructured environment.

Key Attributes
Testing Leadership: Able to set clear testing direction, make informed risk-based decisions, and provide mentoring in complex, fast-moving testing environments.
Innovative Problem Solver: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and frequent change, using practical, creative testing solutions rather than relying on perfect process or tooling.
Collaborative Approach: Skilled at fostering collaboration and teamwork across globally dispersed technical delivery teams and business stakeholders, building alignment around testing priorities and outcomes.
Adaptability: Thrives in a dynamic, sometimes unstructured program environment, remaining flexible in adopting new tools, methodologies, and ways of working as plans and strategies pivot.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Test Manager to lead UAT activities on an international scale within Aon, an insurance market leader. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strong test management expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record in delivering high-quality testing outcomes in complex program environments.
