For this assignment, we are looking for an Interim Group Controller. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Board and act as the financial and economic link between the Executive Board and the academies and services.


The role
As Interim Group Controller, you are an expert and critical discussion partner for the board and you are responsible for the financial planning and control cycle, in close consultation with the board secretary. You provide solicited and unsolicited advice on (administratively relevant) financial issues and risks and on the financial aspects of strategic dossiers.
You report directly to the Executive Board and are involved in strategic consultations, including consultations with the employee participation council on the budget and meetings of the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board.

What will you do?
  • Organizing the planning and control cycle for budgets, quarterly reports, and annual accounts.
  • Advising the Executive Board on financial issues, financial strategy, and associated risk management.
  • Executing and coordinating group analyses and the annual audit plan.
  • Developing scenarios regarding funding, subsidies, and financial sustainability of the institution.
  • Assessing policy proposals and strategic choices in terms of their financial impact,
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, such as the WNT and internal frameworks.
  • Contributing to the further development of the financial function as part of ArtEZ's ongoing organizational development.
  • You will perform your duties as group controller in coordination and collaboration with the Control and Advice team and the Financial and Economic Affairs department.

Who are we looking for?
  • An experienced interim group controller with knowledge of  and an affinity with higher education
  • Experience within a college or university is required.
  • Academic level of work and thinking, preferably supplemented with RC or RA training
  • Extensive experience with planning & control, audits, and risk management
  • Administratively sensitive and strong communicator
  • Strategically minded and analytically sharp
