About the National Database Flora and Fauna
You will work in the team of the National Database Flora and Fauna (NDFF) which consists of about 50 employees. More than 200 million observations are stored in the database and about 50 million are added annually. These data provide a picture of the occurrence of plant and animal species in the Netherlands. The NDFF works closely with organizations that collect and use nature data. 

 

Currently, the NDFF is in the midst of all kinds of renewals. For example, various applications and portals are being renewed, while the database must continue to function as usual. Communication to users and stakeholders plays an important role in this. Also on administrative and organizational level there are many developments going on for the NDFF, to which you will contribute as a communication advisor. In the assignment you will work closely with the NDFF Service team, the Design team and the coordinators of the NDFF team. You will also have regular contact moments with the communication team of IPO/BIJ12.  

 

What you will do 

  • Update and expand the existing communication plan to the new situation of working more closely with NDFF partners; 
  • implement this communication plan; 
  • Writing news releases for the website and newsletter; 
  • Creating content for the social media channels; 
  • Further develop and maintain the NDFF website; 
  • Create and send newsletters and online magazines; 
  • Work in collaboration with the design team on various corporate identity materials, animation videos, infographics and other digital expressions for users and stakeholders; 
  • Editing reports, reports and texts in the applications and portals; 
  • Where necessary, support the service team in communicating to users;  
  • media monitoring, press assistance, answering questions from politicians (helping); 
  • (co-)organizing events and meetings. 

 

Your competencies  

The communications consultant we are looking for is a consultant with at least 5 years of relevant work experience and a relevant education at at least college level. You take a lot of initiative and can work well independently, but you also know when to coordinate matters with colleagues or partner organizations.  

Furthermore, you preferably possess the following attributes: 

  • You have an affinity for nature and enjoy working in the green field; 
  • You are enterprising; 
  • You have an excellent pen;  
  • You have powers of persuasion; 
  • You are aware of sensitivities within the green field and politics; 
  • You are creative; 
  • You are handy with various online tools and cms and know how to quickly master new programs; 
  • You enjoy thinking strategically and working on this yourself. 

You will work from the BIJ12 office in Utrecht, from home and occasionally from the office in Nijmegen. We offer a temporary assignment for 24 hours per week for one year, with an option to extend this by two times 12 months. 

 

Renewal will be on otherwise equal contractual terms (including hourly rate). You are in possession of your own laptop and telephone.
