Are you an experienced ecological advisor and do you want to contribute to the development of a uniform assessment system for nature monitoring? BIJ12 is looking for a senior ecology advisor who wants to commit to improving nature information and nature management.

About BIJ12 and the VHR Monitoring Improvement Program
BIJ12 is the implementation organisation for the 12 provinces and supports governments with knowledge and information about nature and the countryside. Within the Improvement Programme VHR-Monitoring (VVM) we work on reliable and consistent nature data, so that governments and policymakers can make the right choices. We do this in close cooperation with ministries, provinces and chain partners.

Your role and impact
As a senior ecology advisor, you play a key role in the development of an assessment system that determines the quality of habitat types. This work is essential for reliable nature information and contributes to the trust in reporting within politics and society.

Together with a team of experts, you will work on a methodology that is uniform, scalable and comparable between different reports and complies with legal frameworks.

You are jointly responsible for:
Designing assessment frameworks within the Birds and Habitats Directive
  • Devising the main lines and substantive support
  • Coordinating with stakeholders and chain partners
  • Managing experts and the development team and contributing to a clear implementation
  • Supervising pilots and testing methods in practice

We are looking for an experienced ecological consultant with:
  • In-depth knowledge of habitat types, assessment systems, vegetation science and nature target analysis
  • Experience with stakeholder management and project management
  • Strong communication skills and a connecting way of working
  • An analytical and strategic view on ecological policy and nature management

Practical information
  • Number of hours: 16 to 32 hours per week (Hybdride, at home and on location in Utrecht)
  • Start date: In consultation, taking holidays into account
  • Extension options: 2 x 12 months
  • Job interviews: July 3 in Utrecht
