Role description and task arrangements

Who we are

BIJ12 is the implementing organization for the 12 provinces and brings together knowledge and information about the rural area and physical environment in the Netherlands. BIJ12 ensures uniformity in information supply and implementation of provincial regulations. This is done from 4 units:

  • Fauna Affairs and ACSG (Advisory Committee on Groundwater Damage).

  • Nature Information and Nature Management (NiNb).

  • GBO to manage shared information systems.

  • Nitrogen and Natura 2000

Background Program Improvement VHR Monitoring.

BIJ12 is contractor of the Improvement Program for VHR Monitoring (VVM). In it, work is done on the necessary and urgent improvements in the national system of nature monitoring, information facilities and reporting, arising from the joint information needs of Program Nature (PN), Program Nitrogen Reduction and Nature Improvement (PSn) and the National Program Rural Area (NPLG). Their implementation is a task for Provinces and the State jointly.

The activities in this program are organized along three substantive program lines, which stem from the various forms of monitoring: Nature Measures, Environmental Conditions and Target Reach. Each program line has a project team. Each project team coordinates the activities and works with representatives and experts from the participating organizations on the results of the program. In addition to the three program lines, the Data and Information program line was launched in April. Program management is carried out by a small program team consisting of the program manager, a program secretary a program supporter and a strategic designer. In total, the program team now consists of 16 colleagues.

Context

The principal for the VVM program is the Steering Committee on Nature Monitoring and Information with participants on behalf of the ministries of LNV, IenW, Defense and the cooperating provinces. Its implementation is accommodated by BIJ12. A program team of project leaders, project staff, a project supporter and a program manager give substance to the program, in close cooperation with a network of staff from the provinces, national government and chain partners involved.

To be able to support the provinces even better in the longer term with reliable nature information, BIJ12 commits to a program for the period 2024 - 2030 that is aimed at strengthening existing and new instruments for nature monitoring and at improving the cooperation between the parties that together give substance to the chain of nature information.

What will you do?

As a Service Designer within the Goal Reach program line in the Improving VHR Monitoring (VVM) Program, you will play a crucial role in designing and guiding sessions and making complex information understandable. The sessions take place both within the program line and with representatives from the various organizations participating in the program. You will work closely with the various project leaders to prepare and facilitate sessions and ensure accessible feedback of results visually and in writing. You also engage with subject matter experts to make highly complex subject matter and processes understandable.

This is not so much about 'customer-oriented services' but about handholds and methodologies to improve and standardize the monitoring of nature in the field. In addition, you coach project leaders in visual working and design thinking, ensuring an iterative, people-oriented and co-creative approach. You have an eye for both organization, process and technology and know how to approach them as a whole.

Job Description:

As a Service Designer within our program team, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing Sessions:You will design, organize and facilitate sessions with various groups within the program, from operational to strategic, ensuring effective working formats and detailed preparation to achieve concrete results.

  • Making presentations:You prepare presentations about the program for various audiences inside and outside the program, presenting complex information clearly and visually appealing.

  • Visualization and reporting: You translate complex data into concrete and understandable visualizations and descriptions that can be included in documents and notes and/or made available in the online environment.

  • Coaching project leaders: You will support project leaders in applying visual working and design thinking, and encourage an iterative and people-centered approach.

Profile:

  • You are people-oriented, pragmatic, iterative, co-creative and holistic, seeing organization, process and technology as one design task;

  • You have a solid knowledge of design thinking and agile working;

  • You are an enthusiastic and people-oriented professional who emphasizes design thinking;

  • You know how to make complex issues concrete and can switch well at different levels;

  • As a storyteller, you can paint a clear picture and bring people into your story;

  • As a listener, you translate requirements and wishes into a clear picture and coach others in this;

  • You stand firm as a facilitator of sessions.

Wishes:

Experience supervising and implementing projects within the public sector, preferably with a focus on nature, wildlife monitoring or similar areas.

Demonstrated experience implementing service processes and procedures in large organizations (> 1,000 employees), dealing effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Experience in gathering, analyzing and translating internal and external requirements and wishes into concrete project deliverables.

Experience coaching and mentoring colleagues on design thinking and facilitating design sprints.

We are looking for a proactive and creative professional who can work both independently and in a team, and who has a passion for nature monitoring and information improvement.
