Role description and task arrangements

As a Culture Policy Advisor you will have a variety of tasks. Culture is not a policy field in itself. The culture portfolio has a clear interpretation from cultural education, stiming of cultural experience and contribute to municipal goalsngene by institutions (libraries, museums) , associations and private initiatives , regional cooperation direct lines with the portfolios of education, social real estate, sports and other preliminary facilities. This makes your portfolio a cool challenge! Seeking connection with your colleagues therefore makes perfect sense to you. You are aware of everything that happens in your field. Do laws and regulations that affect your portfolio change? Then you know it! You want to get down to business and you dare to take action. This enables you to build bridges.  

A concrete insight what are you going to do like this?
  • You have an active role in drafting the implementation agenda;
  • You will be responsible for positioning the community library within both of our congregations;
  • You are account holder for a number of cultural grant relationships;
  • You will advise portfolio holders, prepare college opinions and policy papers and prepare decision making;
  • You will identify developments and trends, and study new and developing laws and regulations;
  • You participate on behalf of our municipalities, with a high degree of independence, in various networks/consultations and maintain close cooperation with internal and external partners;

Competencies
You will have a nice portfolio with plenty of challenge! This also includes certain competencies. You recognize yourself at least in the following competencies.
 
  • You have a solid financial and legal understanding (within the field of arts and culture);
  • You can switch well between the various topics/issues;
  • You can rise well above the material, but you also know how to bridge the gap between policy and implementation, and you are just as happy to "put your feet in the clay" at appropriate times;
  • You make contacts easily and find your way quickly in a new environment that is all about "innovating by connecting."
  • You address employees and colleagues and are business and results oriented to achieve the agreed objectives together.

Job Requirements
  • You have an HBO/WO working and thinking level and have completed an education relevant to this position;
  • You preferably have demonstrable work experience in policy advice in the field of culture within a municipal institution;
  • You have an affinity for numbers and finance and know how to handle your budgets appropriately;
  • You are able to draft policy, have it adopted and then translated into implementation and vice versa and know how to take into account social impact, financial impact and political sensitivities;
  • You can transfer your knowledge well to the colleagues within the team, can coach them on substantive topics and are a connector at heart;
  • You are socially engaged and have a vision of community-oriented work;
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of process and project-based work.
