As team manager, you play a crucial role in fostering cooperation and directing a team that focuses on the social tasks within our municipality. You will ensure a motivating working atmosphere where both team members and results are key.

What will you do?

The team manager is the link between the operational/tactical work and the direction of the municipality as a whole. The department manager sets the strategic course for the department; you are an important sparring partner in this. The team manager oversees the results to be achieved and knows how to realize them. In addition, as a team manager you make an active contribution to the integral cooperation between the various teams, both within and outside your own department. The team manager steers on results as well as on attitude and behavior.

 

As a manager, a team manager within the municipality of Hengelo is responsible for the HR aspects and coaching of employees in the team. As a team manager, you have an affinity with the content of the field, but know how to leave the content with the people. By asking the right questions, you are able to challenge your employees and connect with organizational goals.

 

For this assignment we are looking for an interim team manager. Knowledge of and affinity with the policy fields Culture and Sports is of great value and is seen as a clear advantage. You understand the dynamics of these policy fields, know what is going on and can respond to this in your role as manager and sparring partner.

 

 

In the role of team manager:

  • ensure that the results to be achieved are realized by your team;
  • You are HR responsible in which you promote ownership by-and the development of-employees in your team;
  • You are responsible for translating the strategic vision and direction and/or change tasks into continuous process (both people and content);
  • You are an advisor and sparring partner for the department manager, cluster and individual employees on your team;
  • Be a principal for projects in the continuous (tactical/operational) process;
  • You are responsible for the strategic staff development of the team (on quality and quantity);
  • You are responsible for the formation, staffing and budgeting of your team.
  • You have knowledge of and affinity with the policy fields of Culture and Sports, whereby you are able to steer for results in these fields and deal effectively with administrative and political sensitivities.

 

You know how to find the right balance between ambitions and capacity and are keen on what can and cannot be done. In this way you manage the workload well. Despite the dynamic environment you keep an eye on the employees, their personal situation and development.

The Social Strategy and Development Department is a policy-oriented department that focuses on the policy areas of health promotion, welfare, sports, culture, education (housing), social real estate, work & income, youth aid, care and Wmo. The department works with various partners in the city and ensures that policy plans are effectively developed and implemented. Team Society and Partnership is part of the department and is the connecting link between residents, partners and the internal organization. In the future, Team Migration and Reception will also be added to the department, focusing on the reception and guidance of newcomers in Hengelo.
