Role description and task arrangements

Hello interim Senior Epic Owner Theme Realizing Data ecosystem ! Do you want to work in the heart of the energy transition?
32 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid | Energy Market | Start date December 1, 2025 | Duration of assignment 1 year

Will you help build smarter electricity use in the Netherlands?
As grid operators, we manage a lot of data. From all that data, we extract information to better utilize our grids and facilitate the energy transition. But our data is also useful to other parties in our energy ecosystem. And their data vice versa for us. We therefore want to share (energy) data from the entire sector. By standardizing data and making data products available. We do this by developing a uniform and digital data ecosystem in the sector. Customers expect uniform solutions from us network operators, available nationwide. We are therefore developing a portfolio of joint data products, as cooperating grid operators.
To expand this, we are looking for several new colleagues who will work on a wide range of topics in the field of data sharing. As senior Epic Owner you will connect central and decentralized parties, translate vision into execution and contribute to sector-wide innovation.

About our partnership and your assignment
Within the Customer & Market domain, the grid operators are working intensively together on a sustainable and future-proof energy supply. The pRO is a virtual network organization set up by and for the grid managers. We facilitate the joint management of customer and market processes within the Customer & Market domain. Think of products and services that are crucial for the energy transition: from digital customer processes to flexible market facilitation. Within the theme "Realizing data ecosystem" we are working on the smart application of data and digitalization.

Your assignment as senior Epic Owner
As senior Epic Owner, you are responsible for the realization and implementation of Epics within the theme Realizing data ecosystem. There you are ultimately responsible for realizing change. This could be a process, (IT) system and/or product change. This responsibility is the core of your assignment. You are responsible for managing an epic to successful completion via portfolio kanban. You facilitate the entire process from epic initiation to end user deployment. You act from a business mandate obtained through a business strategy of the joint network operators. You are appointed and managed by the theme owner and are part of (the flexible shell of) the theme team.

Your responsibilities in a row:
  • Develop high quality Epics: Creating a high-quality epic that is aligned with the strategy/OKRs, with a clear MVP and follow-on development. Create and align the value statement and lean business case, solution description and architecture framework for the epic with stakeholders. Guiding the epic through the portfolio kanban process and ensuring appropriate alignment with stakeholders. Ensuring the epic meets requirements at kanban phase transitions.
  • Realization of Epics: Point of contact during PI planning and epic execution. Aligning the required capacity. Facilitating the process of working out the epic into features. Communicating, monitoring and applying 'Pivot or Persevere' during the implementation phase of the epic.
  • Implement business improvements and realize results: Communicate and support the implementation of products (also decentralized), in collaboration with the business owners, product manager and product owner, to ensure that the change is fully adopted in the business and the intended value is realized. Evaluate with the strategy owner, theme owner and stakeholders the collaboration in realizing (strategic) value.

Who are you?

  • Helicopter view and you are able to maintain structure and oversight, in an environment where grid operators collaborate across individual grid management organizations.
  • Experience in change and stakeholder management at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in Product Management:
Experience in developing and marketing digital propositions (data or software) to customers, from product vision development obv customer need to go-to-market plan to maximize adoption/use.
This includes all organizational and cross-functional issues related to the development and delivery of digital (software/data) products, from customer need and value proposition and product vision development to legal or licensing aspects, managing IT teams for realization, drafting a go-to-market plan and arranging support.
