Help build the future of the Dutch energy market

Financial, strategic sparring partner at the heart of the energy transition

As a business controller, do you want to make the difference in a sector facing major strategic choices? The Program Direction Organization (pRO) is looking for a Business Controller who gives direction and support to the performance and (financial) control within the portfolio and multiple programs in the energy market. As a critical and connecting thinker within the pRO, you will make a direct contribution to portfolio choices and program management. You translate figures into insights, and insights into action perspectives.

About our partnership
The pRO is the network in which the Dutch grid managers work together on digitization, standardization and sector renewal. As business controller, you work from the Finance & Support team, which provides support to the pRO on behalf of the grid managers. You report to the Quartermaster Finance & Support and operate as an independent financial conscience within a dynamic stakeholder field.

Your assignment
As Business Controller you are the linking pin between strategy and execution. You provide direction, interpretation and testing of strategic choices within the domain Customer & Market. You are responsible for (financial) insight, overview and advice. You not only provide management information, but actively think about scenarios, prioritization, governance and value creation within the portfolio and programs. You will provide qualitative monthly and quarterly reports, support audits and make substantive contributions to PI planning and portfolio syncs.

Your responsibilities and accomplishments in this assignment include:
- Advising on roadmap choices, investments, priorities and budget releases from a business perspective
- Program control and content advice on Energy Act, Allocation 2.0 and other strategic initiatives
- Proactively challenge theme owners on substantive and financial substantiation
- Contribute to PI planning, portfolio syncs and business plan processes, with a focus on alignment and decision-making
- Support audits and review of governance agreements
- Submit at least two improvement recommendations in the area of financial control or governance

Who are you?
You are a solid interlocutor, used to operating in complex organizations. You combine strategic insight with executive power, and know how to make the connection between finance and content.
Furthermore you bring along:
- HBO+/WO education in business economics or business administration
- 5-7 years of experience in a similar control role
- Experience in an agile/SaFe work environment (MSP is an advantage)
- Communicative skills and managerial sensitivity
- A keen eye for details and helicopter view
- A keen analytical ability and persuasiveness. Ability to combine thinking with doing
- Independence but also the ability to work together
- Good command of the Dutch language.

What do we offer you?
- A challenging assignment (32 hours per week) until January 1, 2026 in the heart of the energy sector
- An hourly rate between €105 and €115 including travel expenses, excl VAT with option to extend and start as soon as possible
- An innovative and Agile-driven hybrid work environment

Ready to make a difference with us?
Are you the sharp and independent business controller we are looking for?
