Key role in the energy market
Energie Data Service Nederland B.V. (EDSN) is the IT partner of the regional grid operators, TenneT and GTS.
Thus, together with the regional grid operators, we develop a reliable and innovative IT infrastructure for the energy market of the future. Together with your colleagues at the intersection of energy, data and IT, you will build the energy market of the future. With this key role, we provide the entire information supply for the free Dutch energy market.
What will you do
With the energy transition in full swing, the Dutch electricity grid is reaching its current limits, increasing the urgency to make smarter use of the grid and reduce grid congestion. GOPACS (www.gopacs.eu) is a unique partnership of all Dutch grid operators and the strategic platform to reduce capacity shortfalls in the electricity grid (i.e. congestion), thus keeping the Dutch grid reliable and affordable.
The GOPACS congestion platform enables grid operators to resolve congestion by purchasing flexibility through connected energy trading platforms while providing large and small market participants with an easy way to generate revenue from their available flexibility. Due to our ambitions and the rapidly growing need for congestion management and re-dispatch, we have room for new colleagues.
Since October 1, 2022, the management and development of the application is hosted by EDSN and the team has grown from a multi-functional team within the GOPACS foundation to 6 DevOps teams + 1 Infra team. As an AWS Developer, you will be part of a team dedicated to AWS platform developments. You will ensure the rapid development and reliable operation of the platform that is developed and maintained internally and operates on cloud infrastructure. In addition, management and incident tasks also fall on your plate so that the platform that already exists will continue to exist.
In the long term, a migration from the current AWS platform to an IT4IT platform, also on AWS, is planned. Many parts of this migration have already been prepared, but because more time is needed to make the IT4IT platform ready, the current platform needs to be maintained and developed for longer. Knowledge about AWS, cloud management, and a desire to participate in this migration and management is a must.
- You will design, build and run various backend systems in the GOPACS domain;
- You will provide appropriate documentation, reporting and formalization of processes and systems;
- You will actively contribute to design and refinement sessions;
- You will apply best-practices in terms of security, quality and availability;
- You contribute to automated quality controls in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps processes, and deployment procedures;
- You perform automated unit and integration testing;
- You participate in the regular DevOps incident management process;
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience with many AWS resources, CDK , Cloudformation, stacks, Java 11+ and Spring Boot.
- Highly experienced with AWS
- Demonstrated experience with Docker, AWS ECS, containerized environments and application development in a container context.
- Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated experience with Terraform.
- Experience using design patterns and methodologies and an opinion on Clean Code.
- Understanding of different levels of testing (unit testing, functional testing, API testing, mocking, end-to-end testing) and their application in a Kubernetes environment.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling and activation processes, especially Gitlab-CI.
- Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining OTAP development chains and tooling.
- Experience with Linux and scripting and a programming language such as Typescript, Java or Kotlin.
- Understanding of logging and monitoring with Promotheus and Grafana, Elastic, LogStash, Kibana.
Wishes:
- Experience with NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB; but also with PostgrassSQL
- Experience with Keycloak
- Experience with build & deployment tools such as: Maven, GIT, Ansible.
- Experience with Cloudflare
- Experience with CQRS Patterns and tooling (Axon Framework);
- Experience in the energy industry.
- Understanding of end-to-end testing with Playwright and Cucumber.
- Knowledge of java application development, and its impact on infrastructure, is a plus.
- Knowledge of spring boat application development, and its impact on infrastructure, is a plus.
- A desire to transfer knowledge to those with less DevOps experience. Someone who has a lot of knowledge, and can transfer and share that knowledge out of conviction.
