Hello Kotlin developer (Mr)! Do you want to work in the heart of the energy transition?
32/40 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid | Energy Market | Start date June 1, 2025 | Duration 3 months
|Secondment only
At EDSN, you contribute to making the Netherlands more sustainable. Every day. Together with our partners in the energy sector. With your digital skills and connecting power, you are the indispensable link between technology and energy. You will help build the reliable and innovative ICT infrastructure needed to facilitate a sustainable market. Today and tomorrow! We have big ambitions and that is why we are looking for you!
Key role in the energy market
Work full of energy
With the energy transition in full swing, the Dutch electricity grid is reaching its current limits, increasing the urgency to make smarter use of the grid and reduce grid congestion. GOPACS (www.gopacs.eu) is a unique partnership of all the Dutch grid operators and the strategic platform to reduce capacity shortages in the electricity grid (i.e. congestion), thus keeping the Dutch grid reliable and affordable.
The GOPACS congestion platform enables grid operators to resolve congestion by purchasing flexibility through connected energy trading platforms while providing large and small market participants an easy way to generate revenue from their available flexibility. Due to our ambitions and the rapidly growing need for congestion management and re-dispatch, we have room for new colleagues.
Since October 1, 2022, the management and development of the application has been housed at EDSN and the team has grown from a multi-functional team within GOPACS to 6 DevOps teams at EDSN. As a Back-end Developer, you will be part of the growing DevOps teams and make a crucial contribution to the rapid development and reliable operation of the platform that is developed and maintained internally and operates on a cloud infrastructure.
This is what you will do
- Designs, builds and runs various systems in the GOPACS microservice landscape;
- Responsible for a piece of software and architecture together with your team;
- Ensures appropriate (minimum) documentation, reporting and formalization;
- Contributes actively to design and refinement sessions;
- Applies best practices in security, quality and availability;
- Contributes to automated quality controls in CI/CD pipeline;
- Create and execute automated unit and integration tests;
- Participates in the regular DevOps incident management process.
This is what you take away
- Develop complex backend systems independently (as well as in teams) within a microservices architecture.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with Java 17+ and/or Kotlin and Spring Boot;
- Experience using design patterns and methodologies and an opinion on Clean Code;
- Understanding different levels of testing (unit testing, functional testing, API testing, mocking, end-to-end testing).
Nice to haves

- Experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL;
- Practical experience with CI/CD tooling;
