Form the indispensable link in the energy market
Work full of energy
Base64 is a team within the value stream IT Foundation. The team is responsible for delivering generic integration building blocks. The building blocks are used by the EDSN DevOps teams to develop agile systems to support the Dutch energy market. An essential part of the solutions our team provides is Self Service (preferably declarative via GitOps). This means that teams can use the building blocks without depending directly on us.

Our team is service-oriented and has a lot of contact with other teams, so we also pay attention to the soft skills required.

In addition to Base64, the Atlas, WatchDog, WhoAmI, and Fundamentum teams are part of this value stream. Atlas focuses on cloud (AWS) infrastructure, while WatchDog focuses on observability and delivery pipelines. WhoAmI is responsible for Identity & Access Management. Fundamentum is involved in data engineering and data analytics.

A core aspect within IT Foundation is to deliver building blocks that ensure business agility and speed of realization (time-to-market). In short, agile solutions that can be developed in quick short and small iterations (integrate early & integrate often + working complex systems evolve from simple working systems

We are a
  • An eight-person, friendly, driven team of specialists who are easy to approach, both within the department and throughout the entire company—it's so nice to work with them!
  • We have fixed office days on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • EDSN operates entirely on the basis of SAFE.

    What you will do
  • Improving building blocks for teams: You will develop and refine building blocks that teams within the company can use to work more efficiently and achieve better results. By constantly iterating and improving, you help create a robust and flexible technology foundation.
  • API gateway management (Kong):
As the administrator of the Kong API gateway, you ensure that communication between different systems runs smoothly and that the security and reliability of the APIs are maintained. You perform regular maintenance and implement best practices to ensure that the gateway performs optimally.
  • Extension of Kafka Infrastructure: You will work on extending the Kafka infrastructure, using Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), to meet the growing demand for real-time data processing and exchange. By ensuring scalability and reliability, you will contribute to the resilience of the system.
  • Collaboration and backlog management: You work closely with the team and the product owner to ensure that the backlog of tasks is properly managed and prepared for execution. Through effective communication and planning, you ensure that the team can achieve its goals and deliver value to the organization.
  • Collaboration with DevOps teams: You will collaborate with other DevOps teams to ensure that the building blocks and infrastructures developed are seamlessly aligned with the needs of other teams. Through consultation and collaboration, you will help create an integrated ecosystem of tools and processes.
  • Implementation of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps process: You will build and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to get applications to production quickly and reliably. Using a declarative GitOps process, such as helmet and argo, you automate deployments and ensure consistent and repeatable releases.
