We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience as a DevOps Engineer. In this role, you will make an indispensable contribution to the development of our modern data analysis platform. You will design and manage data pipelines and data lakes, and ensure that data is accurate, fast, and usable for analysis. Your work will lay the foundation for data-driven decision-making within EDSN and the energy sector.

You will work in the Data & Analytics value stream on data products such as visualizations of energy consumption, allocation, and congestion. These products support market processes of network operators, customized requests from market parties, and public portals. You will always work within the framework of the GDPR, with a focus on value, compliance, and efficiency.

For this assignment, we are looking for specialist knowledge for Team Hubsters. We need a Data Engineer with DevOps experience to support the development of a sustainable data & analytics platform, so that new insights can be developed quickly and qualitatively through a standardized working method. Update of the D&A data landscape by means of:

  • Implementing development building blocks (Airflow, DBT)
  • Maintenance and management of raw data streams
  • Support for DataOps teams
The DevOps experience is clearly evident in the collaboration with the Fundamentum team in the ART IT Foundation. Team Fundamentum provides building blocks for:
  • data ingestion - all data uploads for data analytics,
  • data warehouse - central repository of structured data from multiple source systems, for the purpose of data analysis or reporting,
  • dashboarding/reporting - enables data and data analyses to be presented visually
This is what you will be doing, among other things
  • Design and implementation of data models and ETL logic
  • Realizing scalable and robust data pipelines
  • Building a standardized and digitized data ecosystem
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams within Data & Analytics
  • Working with modern tools such as Airflow, AWS, DBT, Snowflake, Terraform, and Iceberg
  • Contribute to the energy transition with your technical expertise
Collaborating and sharing knowledge
What you will take away:
  • Minimum higher vocational education (HBO) or university education (WO) level of working and thinking in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Demonstrable software engineering background
  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, ETL processes and data modeling
  • Knowledge of data warehouses, data lakes and cloud-based BI solutions
  • Knowledge of and experience with Airflow, AWS, and DBT.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Communication skills in Dutch
  • Pre: Experience with Snowflake, Terraform, and Iceberg
  • Pre: Experience in the energy sector, preferably with a network operator
  • Pre: Experience with Agile/SAFe/Scrum
