Role description and task arrangements

Hello, Senior Epic Owner! Would you like to work at the heart of the energy transition?
32 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid | Energy market | Start date: May 19, 2026 | Assignment duration: 1 year, with a possible extension
Bids may be submitted until April 30 at 9:00 a.m. | Interviews: May 6, 2026 | Maximum agency margin: 10% | Self-employed/Deta

Would you like to play a key role in laying the groundwork for flexible products and congestion management, thereby directly contributing to the optimal utilization of our energy grid? We are looking for an Epic Owner – Better Grid Utilization GV who will take ownership, within the sector, of the implementation and acceleration of several key initiatives. This includes the further development of customer forecasts and the integration of groups of connections into congestion management through aggregation.

About the partnership among all network operators and your assignment

As part of the central strategy “Better Utilization of the Grid for Large-Scale Consumption ,” the joint grid operators are working together to establish several fundamental building blocks necessary for the market for flexibility and congestion services to function effectively. We are doing this, for example, through relevant market agreements, data products, and supporting registries and processes. Due to the societal urgency, this market is undergoing rapid change.

The next step toward maturity requires extensive central coordination, standardization, and simplification. It’s a great challenge to be a part of!

Your role as Epic Owner

You will be leading the charge on behalf of the grid operators to promote aggregation and enable group congestion services. To make as much flexible capacity as possible available in the market, it is important that every connection can participate. The ability to bundle (smaller) connections so they can participate as a group in congestion management is a key tool. We call this aggregation. You will work on implementing sector processes to enable aggregation at scale.

Your responsibilities in a row:

You will develop a roadmap that includes relevant epics and supporting initiatives

You support this roadmap with a clear business case

You are responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate implementation of this roadmap

To this end, you will build relationships with the relevant stakeholders at the various network operators, GOPACS, EDSN, and external parties—at the operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

You will also take the lead on certain other projects and epics within the strategy as needed

You focus on results, simplicity, and speed.

You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo when previous decisions need to be reconsidered.

You are responsible for ensuring that progress reports are prepared properly.

You will report on progress at the operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

You translate your experiences into suggestions for improvement in collaboration with the various stakeholders.

You are an active member of the central "Better Utilization" Net GV theme team.

Who are you?

A reliable and collaborative professional with a passion for creating social impact and accelerating it wherever possible. In addition, you possess:

  • Completed a college or university degree
  • At least 5 years of demonstrable experience as a Product Owner, Agile Project Manager, Epic Owner, or in a similar role.
  • Preferably several years of specific experience as an Epic Owner
  • Preferably experience in the energy sector, preferably with at least one of the grid operators
  • Experience with agile working and change management.
  • A solution-oriented mindset and a focus on results; you’ve got it covered.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with all stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the differences in dynamics between central and decentralized organizations, and market participants.

What do we offer you?

A 32-hour assignment.

Working within a strategic theme of high social relevance.

Plenty of room for personal input and innovation.

Hybrid collaboration with a wide range of colleagues from organizations such as the network operators, EDSN, and GOPACS.

Opportunity to play a key role in maturing the market for flexibility and congestion management
