Hello, interim Java/Kotlin Developer! Would you like to work at the heart of the energy transition?
32–40 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid (Mon+Wed) | Energy market / IT | Start date: May 4, 2026 | Duration: at least until the end of the year
Interviews: 1st round technical assessment, followed by a fit interview | Applications accepted until Tuesday, April 28 at 9:00 AM
Secondment only!

At EDSN, you contribute to making the Netherlands more sustainable. Every day. Together with our partners in the energy sector.Working in the Cloud is becoming more important every day. Also for our Development teams. With your digital skills and connecting power, you play a major role in making this happen. We have big ambitions and that is why we are looking for you!

Work with energy
As a Java/Kotlin developer at EDSN, you’ll be working at the heart of the energy transition. You’ll help modernize some of the grid operator’s most critical processes. You’ll work on a modern tech stack that is partly facilitated by the EDSN Platform. This allows you to focus on adding business functionality. Specifically, we are working on modernizing the Allocation and Reconciliation process. These processes allocate energy to market participants. Based on this allocation, financial settlement takes place between the market participants. The process is currently supported by a monolithic application. We are gradually phasing this out and replacing it with a set of (micro)services that communicate with each other based on Event-Driven Architecture. We are doing this from scratch. We are setting up these services with DDD in mind. As a Software Engineer/Developer on the team, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying the required functionality within the services.

Here's what you'll be doing
•  You will develop new, valuable, customer-focused, and secure software in Java/Kotlin in close collaboration with the business team members.
•  You will manage the service delivery in an efficient and customer-focused manner.
•  You will document, test, and ensure acceptance of the solutions you build.
•  Together with the team, you are constantly looking for ways to improve processes, working methods, technology, services, etc.
•  You serve as a point of contact for the product owner, architects, and stakeholders.

Collaborating and sharing knowledge
This is what energizes you

You are a developer who is creative and resourceful. You are enterprising, independent, and confident, yet you’re also comfortable showing vulnerability within the team. You have up-to-date knowledge in your field and the ability to effectively share it with others. Plus, you bring a healthy dose of humor to the table. In short, you’re a true team player who loves working together toward a common goal!

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table
•  At least 5 years of work experience in a similar role
•  Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architecture
•  Java 21, Kotlin (at least 2 years of experience), Spring Boot
•  Kafka
•  PostgreSQL

Pros:
•  Restful API Design
•  GitLab
•  AWS
•  Kubernetes (with Argo CD)
•  Prometheus
•  Terraform
• Agile/Scrum SAFe
•  Greenfield
•  Energy sector (e.g., grid operator)
