Role description and task arrangements

Hello interim Senior Portfolio Consultant! Do you want to work in the heart of the energy transition?
24 - 32 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid | Energy Market | Start date 1-12-2025 (or asap) | Duration of assignment 1 year
ZZP / secondment allowed

Are you a consultant with your feet in the clay who wants to help optimize investments and strengthen strategic steering within a virtual energy organization!

Do you want to contribute to a future-proof energy supply? The Program Direction Organization (pRO) is looking for a (senior) Portfolio Consultant to give direction to the strategic management of projects, programs and investments within the Customer & Market domain. You will ensure an optimal balance between value, risk, cost and strategic objectives, contributing to transparency, performance and value creation in a complex stakeholder field. Join us then!

About our partnership
Since 2020, pRO has been a virtual network organization in which the eight Dutch grid operators work together on digitization, standardization and sector renewal within the Customer & Market domain. As a strategic platform, pRO supports the energy transition by shaping and implementing market processes around energy data. Within this hybrid partnership you will work on strengthening portfolio-oriented working.

Your role as (senior) Portfolio Consultant
As Portfolio Consultant, you will work closely with leads, theme owners, managers, architects and stakeholders of network operators and EDSN. You facilitate decision making, visualize portfolio information and guide the pRO in the transition to portfolio-oriented work. The focus is on supporting the business in realizing strategic value. IT investments are an essential tool, but it is the business that makes these investments. You help them make the right choices by providing insight into value, risks and dependencies, and by facilitating decision-making based on clear portfolio information.

Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
  • Strategic alignment between business objectives and IT portfolio.
  • Analysis and management of the IT portfolio: projects, applications, infrastructure and investments.
  • Assessment of value, risks, dependencies and costs.
  • Portfolio performance reporting and visualization via dashboards (Power BI).
  • Implementation and optimization of portfolio tools (such as Jira Align).
  • Facilitate governance and decision-making processes related to portfolio.
  • Ensure consistency between project, program and portfolio levels.
  • Monitor compliance with architecture and compliance guidelines (AO/IC).
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting expenses.
  • Stakeholder management and guidance to teams regarding portfolio thinking.
  • Train and coach teams in portfolio management processes.
  • Evaluation and continuous improvement of portfolio processes (SAFe Lean Portfolio Management).

Who are you?
A strategically strong consultant with experience in Portfolio steering in a complex organization with many different stakeholders.
You are a doer and you not only facilitate, but you actively contribute to process improvement and implementation.
In doing so, you are a connector who brings people and interests together, possessing the right mix of personal qualities: High Overview, Analytic, Imagination and Realistic(H-A-I-R). These qualities enable you to fathom complex issues, devise creative solutions and take realistic steps toward impactful change.
You additionally possess:
  • HBO/WO working and thinking level.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in portfolio or program management.
  • Knowledge of SAFe and Lean Portfolio Management and IT.
  • Experience with Jira Align and Power BI.
  • Affinity with the energy industry is a plus.
  • Communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to decision makers.

What do we offer you?
  • An assignment as (senior) Portfolio Controller with direct impact on steering the energy transition.
  • Start: 1 deceomber 2025 or as soon as possible
  • Duration for one year with option to extend and commitment for 24-32 hours per week.
  • Collaboration with inspired colleagues in a hybrid work environment.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a future-proof organization in a socially relevant field.
