Role description and task arrangements

As a Quality Engineer at EDSN, you contribute to high-quality software that accelerates the energy transition.
With your expertise in testing and test automation, you will contribute directly to the reliability of our software and to making the Netherlands more sustainable.

This is how you work as a Quality Engineer full of energy
In your role as Test Engineer, you will work within a DevOps team to deliver new features quickly and with high quality. You will be involved from the refinement stage onwards and will contribute ideas about the test approach, scenarios, and automation. You understand that errors in our systems have a direct impact on the electricity grid, which is why your work is so important. You are skilled in test automation and work closely with developers to build test scenarios and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines. You also help the team with quality and testing. You actively participate in the test community within EDSN, where Test Engineers from all teams come together to share knowledge, discuss new developments, and continuously improve.

This is what you will get energy from as a Test Engineer
  • You get energy from continuously improving processes and techniques.
  • Developing specifications into thorough test scenarios that you can then automate in the Robot Framework.
  • You are critical and meticulous, and you are committed to sharing knowledge and elevating your team to a higher level.
  • You consider it important to monitor quality from the very beginning of the development process.
  • You understand that testing and quality is a team effort and can bring others into this.
  • You are results-oriented, proactive, assertive, and possess persuasive and communication skills.
  • You look beyond your own team and establish contact with other teams when your processes have an impact on a larger chain.
This you take with you:
  • You have at least a higher vocational education (HBO) level of working and thinking in the field of IT, supplemented with relevant certificates such as TMAP, ISTQB, or Agile Tester.
  • You have extensive testing experience in a complex environment and are familiar with modern agile testing methods.
  • The Release Train where you will initially be working has tests built in the Robot Framework.
  • An affinity for development is a must. This means you are not afraid of writing automated tests and want to develop your skills in this area.
  • In addition to the Robot Framework, you can also work with modern test automation frameworks such as PlayWright.
  • You have hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript.
  • You have experience with Behavior Driven Development.
  • You have knowledge of SAFe (preferred)
  • You have experience coaching team members and can engage and persuade people.
  • You have experience in the energy sector (preferred)

Meet your team
You will work in a multidisciplinary scrum team with developers, product owners, and other test engineers. Together, you will deliver robust software solutions. EDSN offers plenty of opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing, including through our test community and interdisciplinary sessions. Together, you will build reliable software with a social impact.
