Experienced UX/UI Designer with clear vision on data visualization
32-40 hours | Amersfoort / Hybrid | Energy Market | Start date ASAP | Assignment duration: 1 month with option to extend
Will you help build smarter power usage in the Netherlands?
Do you enjoy working on impactful apps that contribute to the energy transition? Do you have experience with data visualization, behavior change through app design and gamification? Then we are looking for you!
About our partnership
The eight regional grid operators are working intensively together within the Customer & Market domain on a sustainable and future-proof energy supply. The pRO is a virtual network organization set up by and for the grid managers. We facilitate the joint management of customer and market processes within the Customer & Market domain. Think of products and services that are crucial for the energy transition: from digital customer processes to flexible market facilitation. Within the theme "Realizing data ecosystem" we are working on the smart application of data and digitalization.
About the Neighborhood Net app
The Buurtnet app is a joint initiative of the grid operators. The app gives residents insight into the grid capacity of the transformer house their home is connected to, and encourages them to be grid-conscious. Not by using less energy, but by smartly switching when you use power, to avoid overloading the grid.
The first version is now live in 8 neighborhoods. A greatly improved version will be rolled out in 40 districts in November 2025.
Your assignment as a UX/ UI Designer
As a UX/UI designer, you'll work to improve the user experience of this second app version, with the goal of driving long-term behavior change. You will develop multiple journeys, test extrinsic (financial reward) and intrinsic (social/climate driven) incentives, and translate this into clear UX concepts that work.
Your responsibilities and accomplishments in a row:
- Design and optimize complex user journeys within a single app environment (incl. A/B testing variants)
- Create UX/UI designs with a strong focus on data visualization and consumer understandability
- Design gamification elements (points, rewards, badges) that keep users activated
- Testing and processing user feedback from pilot districts
- Collaborate on app strategy for rollout to new neighborhoods
Who are you?
- You speak fluent Dutch (NL-oriented app, NL-oriented team)
- You have at least 3-5 years of experience with UX/UI for apps, preferably in consumer context (B2C)
- You have demonstrable experience with data visualization for consumers (think energy, mobility, finance)
- You have experience with tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools
- You are familiar with gamification and with reward mechanisms within app design
- You are available on short notice for a minimum of 32-40 hours per week for 1 month.
What do we offer you?
- An assignment for 32 hours to 40 per week with direct social impact with a start date no later than September 15, 2025
- An innovative and hybrid work environment
