Your role in the organization

You will be working within the Legal Affairs Team, which is part of the Administrative and Management Support (BMO) team. The Legal Affairs Team consists of four general legal advisors, each with their own expertise and talents. Within BMO, you will collaborate with colleagues from the executive secretariat, communications, public order & safety, and HRM.

What will you do?

As a legal advisor, you will provide the Municipal Executive and your colleagues with both solicited and unsolicited advice on a wide range of legal issues. Your scope of work is broad and varied. For example:

  • Administrative law issues in areas such as enforcement, building law, public order, the Social Support Act (Wmo), juvenile law, privacy, and government transparency;

  • Private law matters such as contracts and public procurement;

  • Handling objections, appeals, and complaints.

Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for legal quality assurance within the organization. We will divide up the tasks by mutual agreement..

Who are you?

You are a legal advisor who takes a pragmatic approach, provides tailored solutions, and always keeps the bigger picture in mind. You:

  • Has a college or university level of work and thinking (in the field of law);

  • Do you have experience as a legal advisor within the municipal or public sector;

  • Up-to-date knowledge of administrative law is required, and knowledge of environmental law is a plus;

  • Be able to switch easily between different levels and interests;

  • Have a good understanding of political and administrative dynamics.

In addition, you have strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and are self-motivated and a team player. Of course, you possess our five core competencies: teamwork, accountability, customer focus, results orientation, and flexibility.
