What do we expect from you in the position of truancy officer?
As a truancy officer, you monitor compliance with the Compulsory Education Act. You handle reports of unauthorized school absences and investigate the absences and their causes. You discuss the absences with the students and parents. You have an advisory role towards schools and parents on preventing absenteeism. You make decisions on requests for extra leave, alternative compulsory education, or exemption from school attendance. You are also familiar with drawing up a compulsory education report. You participate in care advisory teams within schools and take part in network meetings. In addition, you provide information to students/parents/guardians and schools about compulsory education and related topics.
Who are we looking for? You have a higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking and experience in the field. In addition, you are a special investigating officer. You are someone who independently handles and resolves cases. You are decisive, have good verbal and written communication skills, are empathetic, and can put things into perspective.
