Role description and task arrangements
Site Staff Member, Ukraine Shelter
Opportunity for a temporary-to-permanent position
What will you be doing?
For our Ukraine shelter location, we are looking for a site staff member who thrives in a dynamic environment and effortlessly switches between providing practical support, interacting with residents, and handling administrative tasks. You maintain an overview, identify what is needed, and carefully document details in systems and handover reports.
As the shelter’s operations take on a more long-term nature, the focus of the work is increasingly shifting toward building clear, professional relationships with residents. You’ll guide them toward greater self-reliance, identify care needs, and offer a listening ear when necessary. You’ll provide support without taking over: you’ll uphold the boundaries that contribute to a safe and pleasant living environment. You observe what’s happening at the facility and act independently within the established guidelines, without always having to be asked.
What do you bring to the table?
We’re looking for someone who sees what’s needed and recognizes opportunities, thinks in terms of possibilities, and communicates clearly. With a positive, confident attitude, you provide direction for the day-to-day operations at the facility. You take responsibility for maintaining a neat, organized environment and tackle practical tasks just as easily as having conversations with residents or processing reports. This includes facility management tasks or resolving minor daily issues that contribute to a well-functioning facility.
You are flexible and willing to work irregular shifts according to a schedule, including evenings and weekends (until 8:00 PM). Experience working at a shelter for Ukrainian displaced persons is a definite plus, as is proficiency in Russian or Ukrainian (preferred).
With your proactive attitude, sense of responsibility, and collaborative approach, you’ll be a valuable addition to the team and help the facility take a step forward every day.
