What will you be doing?
Youwill advise, contribute ideas, support, and take the burden off the mayor and aldermen and the executive board as they carry out their duties. In this role, you will specifically support one of the aldermen and a member of the executive board. In addition to being responsible for all secretarial tasks, such as managing calendars, email inboxes, and phone calls, you will serve as the central liaison between the municipal executive, the organization, and the residents of the municipality of Aa en Hunze. You will also be responsible for supporting the portfolio-holder meetings of the alderman you are assisting.
You will work closely with your colleagues in the administrative secretariat and cover for one another as needed.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, professional colleague with an administrative/secretarial background at the MBO+ or HBO level. You place a high priority on customer service. You understand that a change to a schedule involves more than just rescheduling the appointment itself. Being able to distinguish between main and secondary issues is essential. You ask follow-up questions, take initiative, and are flexible (both in terms of schedule and availability). You think in terms of solutions and communicate proactively. You have a proactive, positive, and results-oriented work ethic. You maintain a broad perspective and stay connected to your surroundings. Additionally, you handle hectic situations well, are able to remain calm and maintain an overview, and it’s important that you recognize connections. The job requires a professional commitment, with a high degree of independence and accuracy. You have a keen political sense and are excellent at improvising and organizing. In other words, you are aware of your role and position. You don’t let setbacks get you down easily, and you enjoy getting things done. You are a pleasure to work with; you are sociable and can empathize well with others.
You have an excellent command of the Dutch language and can express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing. You work with precision, are digitally savvy, and possess integrity. Experience in the public sector is required.
What does our team look like?
The Executive Secretariat itself currently consists of four executive secretaries. As a member of the Executive Secretariat, you are part of the broader Executive and Management Support (BMO) team. This team consists of the Executive Secretariat, Legal Affairs, Communications, Public Order and Safety, and HRM.
What do we offer?
This is a 32-hour-per-week position, with Mondays and Fridays as mandatory workdays.
