As an inspector, you are the point of contact for the built environment. You work to enforce regulations in the physical domain and actively contribute to the implementation of the Environment Act. You identify, investigate, and take action when rules are violated, while keeping in mind the human dimension and the public interest. 

What will you be doing?
You will work in the physical domain on the implementation of the Environment Act and the General Local Regulations (APV). In doing so, you will move seamlessly between oversight, enforcement, and advisory roles, and you will know when to take decisive action and when consultation is the best approach. 

In this multifaceted role, your responsibilities will include, among other things: 

• Oversight of real estate use, including use that violates the environmental plan (formerly the zoning plan); 
• Inspection and enforcement duties related to the General Local Regulations (APV), construction, and special laws, such as laws governing the sale of alcoholic beverages and the hospitality industry; 
• Identifying and investigating potential violations, such as illegal construction, unauthorized use, and other violations under the Environment Act; 
• Preparing and carrying out enforcement procedures, in close collaboration with legal counsel and supply chain partners; 
• Advising management, colleagues, and external parties on approaches, customized solutions, and enforcement strategies; 
• Collaborating within the Supervision & Enforcement team and with other disciplines such as permitting, policy, and safety.

We are looking for a supervisor who is confident and comfortable in a dynamic work environment. You combine subject matter expertise with strong communication skills and an understanding of administrative relationships. 

In addition, please bring: 

• HBO-level work and thinking skills, demonstrated through education or experience; 
• Familiarity with laws and regulations in the physical domain (such as the Environment Act and the General Local Regulations); 
• Preferably, experience with oversight and enforcement within a municipality or environmental agency; 
• A keen eye, persuasiveness, and the ability to navigate relationships between different parties; 
• A solution-oriented approach and an understanding of social and administrative interests.
