Job Description

As an Administrative Assistant for the Environment, you and three colleagues will serve as the central hub for administrative support for the Environment team. In this role, you will ensure that requests and processes related to the physical environment are handled carefully, in a timely manner, and in accordance with established procedures. In doing so, you will make a significant contribution to the progress and quality of the services provided to colleagues, residents, and businesses.

The work focuses on supporting a wide range of processes within the Environment domain, involving close collaboration with regulators and other relevant colleagues.

Work

Your duties include:

  • distributing and processing applications for permits and exemptions, including applications related to the General Local Regulation (APV), events, and environmental permits;
  • referring matters to regulatory authorities and actively monitoring the progress of these cases;
  • answering simple questions from colleagues, residents, and business owners, both by phone and in writing;
  • the administrative processing of grant applications, such as community grants and startup loans;
  • assisting with the rental of sports facilities;
  • monitoring the quality, completeness, and progress of administrative work processes.

Within the administrative cluster, each team member has their own area of responsibility with a clear focus on the Environment domain. At the same time, you support and cover for one another as needed to ensure the continuity of operations.

Organization

Borger-Odoorn is a rural municipality in Drenthe with approximately 250 employees, serving around 25,000 residents and businesses. The organization is characterized by short lines of communication, an informal work atmosphere, and regional cooperation with the municipalities of Emmen and Coevorden.

Job Requirements

  • Vocational education (MBO) level of work and thinking, preferably with a relevant Level 3 MBO program;
  • familiarity with administrative processes within the Environment sector;
  • customer-oriented, meticulous, and possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • able to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues;
  • flexible, proactive, and able to identify and tackle tasks in a timely manner.

Experience with administrative processes related to permits, the General Local Regulation (APV), or environmental matters is a plus. Candidates with limited work experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.
