About the position
As a clerk, you are a link between the council, the executive committee, the civil service, and residents in terms of content, process, and relationships. By providing advice and support, you ensure that the administrative decision-making process runs as smoothly as possible and enable the municipal council and its members to fulfill their roles as effectively as possible. You are not easily thrown off balance and can take a punch.

We are looking for an experienced, decisive clerk who is people-oriented and has excellent advisory skills. As an interim clerk, you will be jumping on a moving train, ensuring the continuity of the city council and the decision-making process. You will also have a vision for the council of the future. Based on that vision, you will advise with courage and seek to build connections.

The clerk advises, facilitates, and supports the council in a professional manner, enabling council and committee members to perform their duties optimally. An important part of this is ensuring that the provision of information is well organized. As a council advisor, you seek cooperation and connection with the municipal organization when it comes to preparing meetings, delivering documents, planning topics, and handling motions and commitments. We do this because we work together with the organization for the local government and the residents of Borger-Odoorn.

The further development of the registrar's office and the council is an important focus for the team. In addition, municipal elections will be held on March 18, 2026. As registrar, you will play an important role in getting the new council up to speed and ready to go.

What do you bring?

You have knowledge of the profession and experience as a (deputy) clerk in one or more municipalities. You are quick to reflect, both on yourself and on others.
  • You have excellent communication skills. You dare to speak your mind, don't mince words, and are empathetic at the same time. You have proven excellent advisory skills, both in terms of content and interpersonal skills. Your style is confident and transparent. You are active and accessible in your communication.
  • Focus on innovation. You are analytical and quickly get to the heart of an issue. You are enterprising and inspiring. You give your colleagues in the registry the space to utilize and develop their talents, acting as a coach in the process.
  • You are an approachable, helpful, and decisive person who is versatile and strong in both process and content. We are looking for a solid advisor and discussion partner who works carefully and has a feel for what the board needs to do its job, and you proactively bring this to the fore.

  • Minimum demonstrable higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking;
  • You have no problem with flexible working hours.
