Hours: 4 hours per week

Assignment Description

We are seeking a General Support Specialist for the municipality of Coevorden to provide temporary support due to a surge in workload. In this role, you will assist children and adults affected by the benefits scandal. You will handle complex and often emotionally charged cases, where a personalized approach, meticulous attention to detail, and a people-centered approach are essential.

The staff member guides residents through the application process and ensures they receive timely and appropriate support. This involves coordinating with internal and external parties and documenting decisions in a legally sound manner.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Providing guidance and support to (child) victims of the benefits scandal
  • Reviewing applications for customized services
  • Reviewing and processing reimbursement requests
  • Serve as the point of contact for external agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service
  • Providing legal justification for and drafting decisions
  • Monitoring and overseeing the implementation of approved support

The work will be carried out within the Social Support team, Debt Counseling cluster. Coordinating with colleagues and drawing on each other’s expertise is a given.

Candidate Profile

The candidate has an empathetic and professional demeanor and is able to carefully assess and handle complex situations.

Requirements and experience:

  • At least a college-level education and way of thinking
  • Proven experience in conducting interviews
  • Good communication skills
  • An affinity for the social sector and the target group
  • Legal skills for justifying decisions

For example, the candidate currently works (or has worked) as a consultant, triage specialist, or in a similar role within the social services sector.

Start and end dates

  • Start date: as soon as possible, target date June 1 (earlier start is possible)
  • End date: December 1 (6 months)
  • Extension: This is a short-term support assignment; whether it is extended will depend on the work involved and may be possible at a later date

Work location

  • Hybrid work is possible: partly on-site, partly from home
