Role description and task arrangements

Senior Policy Advisor Youth and Education
32 hours per week, to start as soon as possible

What will you do?

As a senior policy advisor for Youth and Education, you will help shape a radical transition within the youth and education domain. A transition in which we work toward equal opportunities for children and young people based on an integrated and future-oriented vision. Central to this is the idea that it is not the child, but rather the child's environment that is the starting point: by strengthening contexts, we create sustainable solutions. You move with conviction and vision in this complex playing field where education, youth, and society converge.

You think ahead, see opportunities, and turn them into concrete steps. You work in a goal-oriented manner and switch smoothly between strategy, implementation, and the dynamics of daily practice. In your advisory role, you provide solicited and unsolicited advice to the alderman, draft council and committee proposals, and manage projects and tasks within your area of focus.

You keep a close eye on the available resources and provide input for the administrative planning and control cycle. At the same time, you maintain good contact with society and remain alert to what is going on within the local community in your field. You maintain strong relationships with schools, partners, and colleagues, identify developments, and ensure that policy actually contributes to opportunities for young people in Coevorden.

What you stand for and put into action You develop innovative policy and implement new legislation and regulations within Youth and Education based on an integrated approach. You establish links between youth support, education, prevention, and other relevant policy areas and contribute to creating a healthy, safe, and stimulating environment for children and young people.

You will be responsible for multiple themes within youth and education policy, including the Youth Reform Agenda and the Youth and Education Implementation Agenda. You will implement the package of measures, participate in regional consultation structures, and carefully manage budgets. You may act as project leader for (complex) policy and change projects, focusing on coherence, progress, quality, and results. You will closely monitor progress and provide transparent accountability. You will coordinate with portfolio holders and provide administrative support at council meetings.

The Youth Team You will be part of the Youth Team, consisting of more than 20 professionals, and will be part of the policy team within the social domain, together with the Active for Work and Social Support teams. You will work with colleagues who think ahead, take responsibility, and strengthen each other.

What do you bring

  • You are bursting with ideas and know how to translate them into concrete and achievable actions.
  • You see opportunities, take initiative, and easily build a strong network.
  • You work well with others, think ahead, and stay focused even under pressure.
  • You enjoy a dynamic environment and are visible and involved in the local community.
