Within the Environmental Development team, about 40 colleagues work to create a safe, livable, and future-proof environment. We collaborate with residents and business owners who want to build, renovate, demolish, or construct new facilities. We issue permits, oversee projects, enforce regulations, and develop policies. We do all of this within the framework of the Environment Act.
As an Environmental Supervisor, you are responsible for overseeing land-use activities, notifications, and permits. Your duties include, among other things:
Supervision of construction activities: renovation, existing structures, demolition, tree removal, and construction
Inspecting for illegal work and compliance with safety regulations
Administrative Processing of Supervision and Enforcement Cases
Collaborating with partners such as the Drenthe Environmental Agency, the Drenthe Safety Region, and the police
Handling Reports and Enforcement Requests
Preparing inspection reports and initiating legalization investigations
Imposing a construction freeze when necessary
Conducting follow-up inspections of imposed measures
Communicating with residents about violations, laws and regulations, and procedures
Processing Results in the Case Management System
We are looking for a supervisor who is confident and enjoys working with residents. You:
Have an interest in oversight and enforcement
Enjoys holding informal discussions and is closely connected to the community
Has completed an MBO+ program and has relevant work experience
Preferably, you have the Civil Servant in Building and Housing Inspection I certificate
Have (or are quickly acquiring) knowledge of the Environment Act, the General Local Regulations ( APV), and enforcement procedures
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Are you proactive, steadfast, and customer-focused?
Can handle conflict situations and remains professional
Thinks in terms of solutions and works well with others
Is not afraid to call people out on their behavior
Serves as a go-to person for colleagues and possesses coaching skills
Are you able to handle stress and committed to quality?
Do you have a Class B driver's license?
