Team Leader Real Estate and Land Affairs

In this assignment, you will ensure optimal cooperation within Team Real Estate and Land Affairs and excellent service delivery. You will create an inspiring work environment where employees grow and team goals are achieved.

Your work
The municipality of Deventer is developing rapidly. We are in the process of strengthening our organization and future-proofing our teams. For the Real Estate & Land Affairs team, we are temporarily looking for an experienced interim team leader to act as a quartermaster. You will lay the foundation for the new permanent team leader who will join later. You will safeguard processes, working agreements and team culture, so that your successor can start in a well-prepared setting.

The Real Estate & Land Affairs team was recently formed and consists of approximately 25 colleagues: real estate professionals, brokers and planning economists. For the first time, these disciplines are working together in one team. This requires a solid and connecting team leader who has an eye for the mutual differences, the sentiment in the team and the need for structure, cooperation and clarity. You are responsible for the daily management of the team. You guide the team through a change process, working on clear frameworks, processes and division of roles.

In addition, you have a substantive focus on real estate. For this component there is a plan ready, the framework note on real estate. This plan affects different teams and departments within the organization and interests are not always in sync. As interim team leader you know how to bring the right players together and set up workable processes with your organizational sensitivity, administrative antenna and connecting leadership. You take the real estate ambition document as your starting point and ensure that it is carried forward in a supported and realistic manner. You build bridges between team members and other departments within the organization.

You have:  

  • Hbo/wo working and thinking level.  

  • Demonstrated track record in the field of real estate and land matters. 

  • Leadership experience, preferably within a municipality (1000+ employees) or organization whose core business is property management.    

  • Demonstrated experience with change projects and building a team. 

  • Knowledge of the processes within your team's field without taking over the content.  

  • Strong coaching and leadership skills. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with process management and budget management. 

  • Political-administrative and organizational sensitivity. 

  • Ability to translate strategic goals into operational execution.

Your team
The Real Estate and Land Affairs team falls under the Space domain and under the Space and Economy department. You report to the department manager Ruimte en Economie and manage a team of about 25 colleagues.This team consists of professionals who work on a variety of issues at the intersection of property management, land policy and spatial (area) development. The team plays a key role within the municipality when it comes to managing, developing and strategically deploying municipal real estate and land. The planning economists from this team have an important contribution in the financial steering of area development projects.
