Role description and task arrangements

On the Public Space Management and Area Coordination team, we are looking for a: Advisor Roads & Artworks
for 36 hours per week

General information  
The BOR and Area Coordination team is responsible for the management and maintenance of public space. In addition, the area coordinators are part of this team. We perform tasks in consultation and on behalf of and with the Recognized Consultation Partners (EOPs), the residents, our Board and other users of the public space. We also do this in collaboration with the teams USB (Implementation City and Outside (especially the service teams)) and SOR (Public Area Specialists (e.g. Burial and Sewerage)).

The Roads & Works Advisor position is positioned in team BOR. This team consists of approximately 40 employees who largely deal with advising on and managing and maintaining public space. This involves the following fields/clusters:
  • Parking
  • Green
  • Area coordination
  • Sewerage
  • Traffic
  • Roads
  • Civil Works of Art
  • Finance
  • Waste & Cleaning
The BOR team is a team of loyal and committed people, go-getters (doers) and subject specialists. Results come first. We work with schedules and overviews and are an important interlocutor for the board and society, with whom we sit around the table weekly on almost all subjects. There is a considerable workload.

Specifically, what does the position entail?
As Advisor Roads & Civil Engineering, you will focus primarily on the Roads and Civil Engineering cluster in public spaces:
  • You have a coordinating and driving role for spatial policy assignments and are responsible for coordinating with the various disciplines in order to jointly bring the assignment to a successful conclusion;
  • You are partly responsible for implementing the IBOR (Integrated Public Space Management) policy plan. The translation new management plans is essential in this. 
  • You prepare administrative deliberations in the form of opinions, memos and administrative decisions for College and Council regarding legal work and other matters in the spatial area;
  • You advise, proactively and reactively, to your internal colleagues, management and board.
  • You will contribute cross-team and provide feedback in policy development, policy drafting, policy development taking into account the implementation of public space management;
Competencies
  • You are customer and quality oriented and have excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • You are able to listen well and can also convince others of your expertly considered advice;
  • You are good at coordinating and bringing together diverse interests within policy themes (cross-team);
  • You have a sense of the interests of society;
  • You are a connector and purposefully leverage the necessary expertise in your own network both internally and externally;
  • You possess a good antenna for administrative relations;
  • You are creative, flexible and take initiative;
  • You have a down-to-earth and goal-oriented personality who thinks in terms of opportunities and not limitations. 

Job Requirements
HBO/WO work & thinking level. You have gained experience as a policy officer or similar position. Knowledge of public space management and in particular the civil sector is desirable.
