Role description and task arrangements
IT systems - Citrix administrator
(Hybrid, 1 to 2 days on location) Freelancers welcome.
- Purpose of the assignment
- Work
- Manage, monitor, and optimize the current Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops environment.
- Performing updates, patches, image management, and other lifecycle activities with minimal impact on production.
- Analyzing and resolving incidents, including chain-wide investigation in the event of complex disruptions.
- Identifying risks that could affect stability or availability.
- Documenting changes, procedures, and configurations.
- Designing, setting up, and configuring a new RDS environment for specific functionalities such as steppingstone servers.
- Ensuring security guidelines, segmentation, and access management within the RDS environment.
- Advise on temporary measures or optimizations that contribute to stability and security during the transition period.
- Required knowledge and experience
- Demonstrable experience with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, StoreFront, MCS, Ivanti Workspace Control, Ivanti Automation Manager, and FSlogix.
- Experience setting up and managing Microsoft RDS environments, including security and access structures.
- Experience with managing production environments during migration or transition periods.
- Thorough knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policies, and Powershell automation.
- Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Citrix Director or similar solutions.
- Knowledge of security guidelines within government organizations (including BIO, hardening, MFA).
- Experience within municipal or public organizations is an advantage.
- Experience with ITSM tool TOPdesk is an advantage.
- Competencies
- Strong analytical skills and able to think across the entire chain.
- Risk-aware and careful when implementing changes within a production environment.
- Good communication skills with both technical colleagues and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive, structured, and documentation-oriented.
- Stress resistant and able to set priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Able to work with architecture and draft designs.
The Municipality of Emmen is currently transitioning to a new workplace concept. During this period, the current Citrix production environment will remain an essential facility for daily service provision. The municipality is looking for an experienced Citrix Administrator who will be responsible for keeping this environment stable, secure, and up to date until at least the summer holidays. In addition, a new RDS environment will be set up to make specific functionalities, including steppingstone servers, available. The professional will work within the Automation team.
