Sustainability Support Specialist  

Work Environment
For many homeowners, making their homes more sustainable is a complicated process. What is the right plan for my home? How do I finance it? How do I evaluate quotes? What can I expect from a contractor?
The municipality of Emmen aims to directly engage its residents in taking sustainability measures by providing information, advice, and support with applying for available grants and implementing necessary actions. The foundation for this is the customer journey approach. Residents go through a process from awareness to implementation. To this end, the municipality will establish an organization capable of offering this advice and support through various tools and services. In addition to expanding the team with staff and advisors specializing in grants, finance, and technical matters, (volunteer) energy coaches, fixers, and project leaders are already actively working in the municipality.

Job Description
The municipality is seeking a staff member/advisor with some knowledge and experience in the field of sustainability, who is familiar with the available grant programs and, above all, has a people-oriented, proactive, and customer-focused attitude. The role involves providing direct advice to residents at home or on-site, with or without an appointment.
You may also be asked to facilitate larger walk-in meetings to provide information as an (expert) speaker.

Duration of the assignment
The position is intended to last for approximately one year.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide practical support to residents by offering tips and advice on technical and structural solutions, grant opportunities, and evaluating quotes, as well as by referring them to reliable sources of information.
  • Record recommendations for monitoring;
  • Provide information about financing options;
  • Keep residents well-informed through potential meetings at the Sustainability Help Desk;
  • If necessary, we can prepare a customized recommendation with more intensive support


Powers

  • Conducting consultation sessions;
  • Provide comprehensive advice independently;
  • Acting on behalf of residents and the municipality, maintain independent contact with the relevant parties (contractors, municipal agencies, etc.)
  • The employee reports to the Built Environment team leader.


Job Requirements and Experience

  • Basic knowledge of energy conservation and sustainability measures;
  • Experience as an (energy) coach or consultant is a plus;
  • Social;
  • Communication Skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Flexible:
  • IT-savvy.
