Would you like to help build the Emmen of the future as part of the Spatial Development (ROW) team? Emmen is one of the few municipalities that has all the disciplines for designing large spatial projects in-house and does a lot itself. Then this versatile vacancy is for you!
Our work has an impact on the community around us. We work in a vibrant municipality with beautiful nature, distinctive villages, and a bustling city center. Where activity goes hand in hand with peace, space, and nature. Our goal is to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable living environment where people feel at home and enjoy living.
Our organization stands for decisiveness, continuous development, and flexibility. We work in a large organization with short lines of communication, with a great deal of trust, and everyone is given the opportunity to develop to their full potential. More than 1,000 committed and loyal employees are ready to serve the more than 109,000 residents.
Emmen is growing and has an ambition to build approximately 6,000 additional homes by 2040. There are important developments around the Nedersaksenlijn railway line. The Emmen region is committed to robust growth, and the city of Emmen is the heart of this region, where the supra-regional facilities are located.
In addition to the town of Emmen, there are 13 other villages of varying sizes within the municipality. This means we also manage an ancient and varied landscape and settlement pattern, from village to town. In this rural area, you can relax and enjoy all the beauty that Drenthe is known for.
In addition, as the largest industrial cluster in the northern Netherlands, there is also sufficient dynamism in the field of employment. In order to realize all our ambitions for the future, we are looking for several urban planning colleagues.
· In this context, you will work together with colleagues from our team and more broadly from the organization on Emmen in 10, 20, 30 years' time, thereby creating the preconditions and dynamics for targeted movement towards our desired future. · At the same time, you will work on substantial development projects within (the municipality of) Emmen for the coming years, where necessity, ambition, and limited space bring with them exciting design challenges. · You will connect the various substantive disciplines and guide your colleagues in this process. You also have the capacity to deliver a concrete urban development end product in collaboration with others. · We naturally work with developing parties, and you are their discussion partner in your field of expertise and you know what is going on in your field of work in society. · You advise the municipal council on spatial ambitions and initiatives. · You participate in municipal spatial policy and development projects and provide urban planning input and frameworks with the aim of ensuring integrated spatial quality. · You translate trends into ideas and visions for spatial opportunities and study, analyze, and design urban planning tasks in relation to other policy areas. · You advise on larger (private) construction initiatives, assess them, and consult with other departments and third parties. · You contribute to area development processes, environmental programs, and the development of the Environmental Plan within the Environmental Act.
· You have thorough professional knowledge and are able to think and act on different scales. · You are goal- and results-oriented, have a strong proactive and customer-focused attitude, can delegate work, and believe it is important to continue working together. · You enjoy communicating and presenting joint results. · You have a completed university degree in Urban Planning. · A minimum of five years of relevant work experience as an urban planner is required, preferably in a municipal organization.
The Spatial Development team is committed to the future development of the municipality of Emmen and to achieving quality in the residential, working, and living environment. Cooperation and a strong focus on results within the team, between both the urban planning and legal planning disciplines, are paramount in this regard.
In addition, we naturally also contribute to the entire physical chain, of which we are a part. Within the team, there is plenty of room for personal initiative to further expand your own expertise.
