As legal advisor environmental plan in Enschede, you will be working on the transition of the Environmental Plan as well as working on the plan-legal translation of development projects such as Cromhoff, Horstmanpark, spoorzone Hengelo-Enschede and social projects and private initiatives.

- You will help build a Green, Sustainable and Attractive Enschede.
- You have super varied work. You can help build the new Environmental Plan, but also sink your teeth into concrete procedures. From Omgevingsplan wijziging tot het verzorgen van de onderbouwing van de bopa.
- You make the plan changes yourself with the help of in-house technical and GEO consultants. Your craftsmanship is key!
- You are responsible for assessing and guiding initiatives under the Environment Act;
- you are engaged in transformation of areas, area-based tasks and setting up the way of working under this law;
- work on the Enschede Environmental Plan and contribute to the development of a sustainable living environment;
- work with various disciplines, both internal and external, and together seek optimal solutions in balancing interests between nature, housing and economy;
- in short, you play a key role in shaping the physical environment and ensuring balanced development within the legal frameworks.
As legal advisor environmental plan you will join a well-cooperating and cozy team of 20 colleagues in various positions as legal advisors environmental plan, advisors on soil, air, external safety, trees, heritage and archeology. As the municipality of Enschede, we have many disciplines in-house and we are proud of that! Our motto is: 'Space for development, safeguards for quality'. This team falls under the cluster Environment and Law.

You are a professional legal advisor on environmental planning with experience in guiding planning procedures; from the first initiative to the eventual legal procedure. You enjoy identifying different interests and, where necessary, initiating or supervising (mediation) discussions about them. You are a connector within the organization. You know how to take a good position in the working groups on new initiatives together with colleagues from the Policy and Area and Project Development departments. You speak the language of colleagues, residents and administrators. This makes you a team player towards colleagues and a full discussion partner for initiators, project managers, policy advisors, designers and colleagues from the Permit and Enforcement departments.
Requirements/Wishes:
- A completed college or university degree in planning or Dutch law;
- Knowledge of relevant environmental law laws and regulations;
- Experience in independent drafting and procedural guidance of spatial plans;
- good communication and collaboration skills. With these, you will contribute to the goals of the Environment Act: in content and style;
