Role description and task arrangements

Area and project development project officer
Between 24 and 36 hours per week, Enschede

The Area and Project Development Department within the Spatial Development and Management cluster provides project and process management for the entire municipality of Enschede.
As a project officer, you will support the project manager and work with the project group on the outcome of mostly complex projects.
The mix of substantive and organizational work makes this job interesting. By working on major tasks in Enschede, you contribute to social developments, and thus our future.
The top 3 things about this job
This is why you will love this job as a project assistant:
  1. Enschede is developing rapidly. Together with your colleagues, you get to work on this!
  2. You have a very varied job: working in various project teams with many different areas of expertise.
  3. With your qualities as an organizer and connector, you make an important contribution to the projects.
As a project officer area and project development
  • it feels very natural for you to work in a political-administrative organization. Within the Area and Project Development Department, we work on projects throughout the city on a project-by-project basis;
  • You offer substantive and practical support to the projects. You can think of the role of project secretary, preparing (draft) notes, board proposals, phase documents, project proposals, letters or memos;
  • ensure tight project and activity planning, have all records in order and provide up-to-date information;
  • You facilitate and organize consultations, neighborhood meetings and other sessions, thinking about the form and content. You advise solicited and unsolicited;
  • You are proactive: you take work off the project manager's hands and see for yourself where opportunities lie. You like structure, looking ahead and thinking about priorities and work sequences.
Your team
You can see us as the drivers of developments in public space and living environment within the municipality of Enschede. Within our department you will find, among others, plan economists, project managers and employees, lawyers, brokers, appraisers and various support functions. In short, all the expertise needed to strongly support the strategic development of the city. We work closely with our colleagues in city engineers, district management, design and the Policy Department, among others.
This is what we like to see in you
You interact with colleagues, business owners and residents. All people with their own perspective and different backgrounds. That's where your communication and social skills come in handy. You are someone who by nature knows how to organize things well. Because of what you do every day, connections are stronger and colleagues, each with their own field and role, can focus better and work more efficiently.
Furthermore, you bring:
  • completed HBO/WO education;
  • Demonstrated relevant work experience;
  • independence;
  • Knowledge and experience with project-based work, preferably within the spatial domain and/or energy transition
  • candidate lives within one hour travel time radius vicinity i.e. 2 to 3 days at office/location.
