Role description and task arrangements

Are you someone who enjoys being outdoors, is at the center of society and wants to make a concrete contribution every day to the safety and livability of the city? As an all-round special investigating officer (BOA) you are the face of enforcement in public spaces. You ensure that the rules are observed and that residents, entrepreneurs and visitors can enjoy the city with peace of mind.

Your day as an All-round BOA: never the same
No two days as a BOA are the same, and that is exactly what makes this job so special. One day you are checking for proper disposal of garbage or enforcing illegal parking, while the next day you act as traffic controller at a busy event. Do residents or business owners report nuisance? Then you are ready to resolve the situation and take action. Whether it's checking bars and restaurants for compliance with the Alcohol Act, supervising events, or handling complaints: you are central to the order and safety of the city.
In addition, as an all-round BOA, you are a mentor for new colleagues. You help them on their way, answer questions and coach them on-the-job. With your (multi-year) work experience and knowledge, you ensure that they too can perform their work with confidence and professionalism.

Your contribution to the city
What makes your job so special is the direct contribution you have on the livability of the city. You are the one who ensures clean streets, safe traffic and a pleasant living environment. With your keen eye for detail, you quickly see where things are not right and know how to respond appropriately. Whether it is about detecting nuisance from improperly presented garbage, monitoring orphaned bicycles or intervening in a traffic accident: you are in charge.

What do you bring?
As an all-around BOA, you are communicatively strong and don't let yourself off the hook easily. You know how to deal with different people and can keep calm in different situations. You have natural powers of persuasion, are solution-oriented and do not hesitate to take initiative.

Job Requirements:
  • MBO work and thinking level (level 3 or 4).
  • In possession of valid BOA certificate and RTGB certification.
  • First aid certificate.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in your field.
  • In possession of neighborhood boa and/or youth boa certificate.
  • Driver's license B and good physical condition.
  • Experience in planning and organizing activities together with internal and external partners.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.

Supervision and Enforcement

The Housing Nuisance Intervention Team focuses on dealing with slumlords and checks whether the actual occupancy is in accordance with the data recorded in the Basic Registration of Persons. They also check whether residents and property owners hold a housing permit in designated areas. Several lawyers work within the Supervision and Enforcement team. Together the lawyers deal with the legal administrative approach to violations in the field of public order and safety.
